Health and the Dark Side-My Experience

I have been training for over 15 years now and just recently I started using a more intuitive approach with diet, supplements and cycles. Right now I am the biggest, strongest, most muscular, and healthiest I have ever been. I feel great all day, sleep perfect at night, and I can finaly do every day things again without feeling weighed down and lethargic. So, I want to take some time to share with you guys what I have changed, and what I am doing right now that brought about these positive changes in my body and life. I also would appreciate if other bros chimed in and shared their similiar experiences they have had with experimention and health while cycling. Here is my current diet, routine, and supplements.

I eat five solid meals a day with 20-30g whey isolate. 60grams Whey Isolate and oatmeal upon wakening, 60g whey Isolate and honey post workout and 40g isolate+40g casein before bed. I use to eat the same thing at the same time every day but I found my body responds better if I give it a variety of lean protein sources. Plus the variety makes it easier to stick to the diet. Each meal of either lean beef, chicken or fish contains 50-60g of protein. For carb meals I eat brown rice or white rice if it is within an hour post workout. I eat broccoli or green beans with some of the meals and I eat honey and peanut butter on net4 bread and a banana 1.5 hour pre workout.

I workout 4 days a week. Mon chest/tris/calves; Wed back/delts; Fri bis/calves; Sat quads/hams. Tues, Thurs, and Sun I do 45 minutes of light cardio. I use high intensity and moderate volume workouts. Mostly free weights. This is my on and off season routine. I only add a little more cardio and slightly reduce carbs while dieting. I sometimes use carb cycling to break through plateaus.

Now for supplements, I never use any protein but ion exchange whey isolate. Except before bed, I add casein. I have used every kind of protein out there. When I switched to whey isolate and started adding it to my meals my muscles got fuller and my skin looks thinner. Every day I take 12g of fish oil, a multi vitamin, potassium, taurine, aspirin, liv 52, and 3g vit-c pre and post workout. I have used every name brand, b*s* marketed supplement out there and these are the only ones that actually works for me. Creatine sucks ass and never did a damn thing for me. I used it for years and almost every brand out there. I found that when I changed my supplements up it also reduced the sides I got from aas. Almost every supplement out there puts some type of stress on your body, specificaly your liver. My doc gave me a clean bill of health while using dbol without bs supplements, but said my liver values were effed up when I was on hydroxycut alone, and another time on lipo 6.

I feel and look the best I ever have and I don't believe it has anything to do with how I cycle. I think it all comes down to my diet being consistent, my supplement regimen being simple, safe, and directly assisting and supporting my cycle, sleeping at least 9 hours every night, and never over training.

Once again if anybody has had similiar experiences please share:)

I'm glad it all worked out for you...
Also, i've noticed that when you use "intuitive" diet and training you feel better (not always better results bodybuilding wise)
and really, thanks for sharing this information, i'm sure a lot of us will find it useful

I woud like to see some pitcures, and nice work. You must feel unstoppable!

I feel pretty good but I wouldn't go as far as unstoppable;)

I will post up some pics as I round down the bf%. Right now I am a little above 15% and I want to be about 12 or 13% for the pics.

i'm glad someone figured it out:eek:

THANKS !

My current cycle is 1200mg/wk super test, 100mg/eod tren a, 50mg/day var. Every cycle before this I used an ai throughout. Usually adex around .25mg eod. This time I am using 50mg/eod clomid to try something new, which is working, and I have ai's and prami for the tren but I haven't touched them yet. I have experienced no sides yet when I should have started seeing them a few weeks ago, and this is the highest I have ever gone with test. I have experienced elevated bp, night sweats, insomnia and loss of appetite from tren before but this time there is nothing but extreme strength gains, vascularity and occasional night sweats.

I feel and look the best I ever have and I don't believe it has anything to do with how I cycle. I think it all comes down to my diet being consistent, my supplement regimen being simple, safe, and directly assisting and supporting my cycle, sleeping at least 9 hours every night, and never over training.

Thanks for sharing that BJ, it is a good example of keeping it simple and staying healthy while doing it.

Thumbs up

It's simple. Just put in the time required to figure out what works for you and make the proper adjustments to fine tune all aspects of your goals. Great job Brotha. .

I am gonna be 31 in 3 weeks. I just got a stress test, electro cardiogram, ekg, prostate exam(ouch), and blood tests form my very understanding and helpful doc. Everything came back perfect. I also have one of the more expensive home bp monitors and I keep a daily log while ON. I have never had any major health issues besides what I said earlier. But I effed up a couple of cycles in my early 20's and felt like sh** for awhile. I was so scared of aas after that that I went natural from 22-28. I got way too fat while bulking more than a couple of times and had the common health issues related to that. I got all the way up to 22% bf when I did a 1.5 year natty bulk. That felt sh**y. I use to spend over $500 a month on supplements and that felt sh**y too;)

I know this sounds funny coming from a 30 yr old. I just don't want to be another one of those 50yr old guys with serious health issues that wish they could go back and do everything differently. So I am trying to learn from all of you older, wiser and more experienced bro's how to do it right the first time. I am open to any advice and like I said before I would love to hear your stories bro's. Especially if you have been around a lot longer than I have:)

This makes me think and may link to a recent thread i posted as im very much the same as you regarding training and diet. Everything every day is weighed and varied etc and all good with the very occasional cheat....if it can be called that.
However the difference we have is that i take a boat load of supplements which i mentioned on that thread and low and behold my ALT levels are raised 3 times normal.

When i think back to when they were normal i didnt take these supps' for what i believe to be ' health ' reasons as im now 40....

Im beginning to think its these raising the ALT more than anything else and as such im thinking am i perhaps doing more damage than good by using them. Having said that scans of liver/kidneys etc all come back perfect, its just the bloods that give the Dr concern and subsequently me to a degree...

I may drop then for a while and see what happens...

Definitely give it a shot. If it doesn't change anything you can always go back to what you were doing. At least you will have learned something new about your body:)

Would it be suggested that i drop all of the supplements or is there some from the list i use that perhaps may more than others raise liver enzymes etc??

I don't think anything on this list can directly cause any problems. However, if you are using anything with a propriety blend in it I would drop it. I would drop the acai berry. There just isn't enough research out there to support the claims and we really don't know if it could cause any side effects. Also here is something to think about. Any supplements you take have to be digested and assimilated which is a physical stress on the body. I feel that over time this can cause side effects too. Maybe a short break every once in a while from everything but the neccessities could keep this from happening. Like drop everything but multi-v, c, fish oil, aspirin and liver support for awhile. Don't use any oral aas during this time, and maybe just cruise on low dose test. Then go to a doc and see if this helped your liver.

The supplements that concern me the most health wise are the ones that fall under the category of "bodybuilding supplements." These are the ones you should be wary of.
