Got paid friday and already i look in my account and i'm skint again. after all the bills and stuff go out its gonna be another sparse month for me.

I was hoping to get some protein powders and stuff but i know its just not gonna happen or i wont be able to pay all the bills or pay for gas for the car

is anyone else really struggling here?

I'm a builder and I'm not building anything !

Construction Management student graduating in December. I am stress, nervous, not sleeping well and it sucks.

If you're in a bad situation, don't worry it'll change. If you're in a good situation, don't worry it'll change. ~John A. Simone, Sr.

If you're going through hell, keep going. ~Winston Churchill

I've tried to be a little more frugal in my discretionary spending, my wife on the other hand.......................

I am a trader of equities and options. So i make money in any market. Some of you should look into trading, it is one of the only professions i can think of where you can hege yourself against a bad economy like we have now. The strategy i use only puts me at risk for 7% of my total capitol for the entire year and i am able to pull out 2-5% return on my capitol every month, so it can be done safely.

this economy sux!
I am the owner of a small construction company.
I have seen my income go down by 75%.
We are finally selling two of the three houses we have been paying on for three years. Mine Hers and ours.

We've been together 3 years on Nov.3
My wife is wonderful at managing money. Whole family of financial planners.
She and I are hoping to take a dance class this winter and the pray that things break loose in the spring. We have two house payments off of us and the jobs I'm doing are smaller, but they're still profitable.

So thats my philosophy...
celebrate when you can and hope for better times in the future.

I work for Costco and believe it or not, we have 4 new stores opening up this month. Were still doing good but like most other companys, not where we want to be.

Personally though, yeah its been tough. So many things have happened this year that have hit me hard financially and the cost of living in Seattle is no joke. My brother has been out of a job for sometime and I have about 5 friends who are in the same boat.

A major thing that effects this area is Boeing being here and now probably moving to the E Coast, the will effect everyone here. I understand we all want to make more $$ but man, some of those guys go on strike and want more and now look, they are bidding themselves out of job.

I think its tough ever where though

Luckily I don't have a ton of expenses aside from rent and bodybuilding expenses. I live a mile from my job so gas really isn't an issue, and I never go out and party. I've had to cut back a bit on some of the fun things in life, but I've been able to get by reasonably well all things considered. Can't say the same for everyone I know though-my brother, who is also my roommate, is a Journey Man carpenter for the union and hasn't had work in a long long time. It's getting scary for some people.

I am a short term trader, but not day trader. I have long positions and short ones. Shortest position i get in are on a month to month basis. I like to sleep well at night so i am always hedged with that max 7-10% at risk per year.

I don't work for a bank, i just trade my money and i have clients that i trade for as well.

I've heard that the first sign that the economy is getting to you is when you do double post

Ive started 3 companies since my architecture firm basically died in July '07.

Life is good...just a ton of hard work...what else is new? Ive got my wife, a house, food, and my gym membership.

I work for a big Videogame company and own part of supplement store and can't save shit. But also can't complain on living. So far so good.

I know what you mean. I have a degree in CM form VT. I've been in the construction field for 18 years,Project Management. I've been out of work for 15 months. Going back to school now (4 more years at 46yrs old) getting another BS Degree in Information Technology.

Economy sucks ass! the only good thing is I got a bunch of free money for school.

Went five different places to apply for jobs, 2 gyms (I'm certified pt), 2 gnc stores, and a smoothie bar. Nobody is hiring. I do this every couple days.

Worked in a pain management office (m.d.) and was let go because "they werent making enough money".... Been unemployed for a couple months now.

How did you get the free money for school if you don't mind me asking. I'm about to be laid off myself.

Thanks
