There probably has been threads like this before, but I must say, everytime you go on some social media, there is a new "fitness coaching" or "fitness program" person.
I give PM credit as there are great coaches that have competed at a high level and are experts in nutrition and fitness....... but social media "coaches" that have been working out for a brief time should re-evaluate

Is it illegal?

People will always try to make a quick buck. Market will regulate itself.

I agree about the market part, I guess it takes time to regulate so the best coaches get the most clients

The great coaches in this community are known by the community and get plenty of clients. The one's who are just starting out...or who don't have the necessary knowledge and experience...rarely get many clients...unless they have great marketing skills and even then their success is usually mediocre...certainly not enough to sustain oneself on coaching alone. It takes time to prove oneself and build up a reputation. Guys new to the scene don't have that, so they struggle.

This is a pet peeve of mine. I'm often dealing with athletes at shows saying so and so does my diet and asking about their placings after the shows wanting a critique. I usually have never heard of the "coach". Many of the "coaches/gurus" mentioned have done a show or two (some none), so now they promote themselves as being an expert as they have competed before. Many athletes are on cookie cutter diets and aren't in shape.

Recently, One guy was upset about placing low, but he wasn't in shape and didn't even have abs. He told me he'd been dieting for 12 weeks. I asked about what his diet was and long story short....he hadn't ate any carbs (fibrous or complex) for 12 weeks at his coaches direction.

I know of one guy who had absolutely no knowledge of contest prep. I gave him some advice and helped him out for his first show guiding him through the prep and he ended up winning the overall. He's a genetic freak and anyone with the slightest bit of nutrition knowledge could've did his prep and he'd won the show.LOL In a matter of a few months after his show...He was prepping like 10 clinets for shows. Now a year later and a few more overall titles, he's got like 20 clients of bikini and bodybuilder athletes.

As a former fitness center owner for 17 years and the owner of a PT Center
for 7 years, I have had countless "trainers" contact me for employment.

The problem is that getting an AFAA PT Certification is a complete joke.
4 hours on a Friday night, 8 hours on Saturday and Sunday, and passing a
test that any fool could pass, and you're a trainer?

Really??????????????????????????????????????????????

Is this who you want to pay for any services? I doubt it.
But it happens all the time in franchised gyms. :banghead:.

I find it hilarious that most of these "coaches" are skinny without
any muscles... And they are a coach :banghead:

These "coaches" never achieve any success. Their clients will lose a few pounds or do a competition and not place but the coach will blame politics. As soon as the clients wise up they move.

The good coaches will consistent have their clients placing and winning shows.

agree w Strunk.... I'm heavy on social media and its amazing... u get guys that do ONE local male physique show, and then all of a sudden they have "prep packages" posted all over there page...

just as bad as the guys i see IN the gym that try to just pimp their "coaching" to any hot girl just to try to get some pussy "soooooo Tina, do you compete? you look greaaaat! we should start training together, ill get you there":rolleyes:: .... there are a few of these guys in the local gyms i goto and the girls always tell me they are the biggest creeps....
