how to gain 15-20lbs.....need help....

hi guys,
i accidently found this website very interesting yesterday while surfing the net. Wow i didn't know ppl in here are so knowledgable and i believe you guys will have the key to my answer :)
here is my problem: i never can gain weigh it looks like it is imposible for me to gain 15-20lbs. I have already tried a lot of different product for months (creatine, whey protein, muscle milk, megamass...). One trainer at the gym told me that my metabolism is so high and i do believe so. if i drink alot of those protein, i sh**t out alot. It seems like i can't filter any of those. I eat 4 times aday breakfast/noon/snack @5pm and dinner @10pm after gym....sleep 8hrs/day 12-8am. I'm 5'4 and 110 lbs i'd like to gain at least 15-20lbs is that possible :( ?

Here's the thing........most of us have heard this 100's of times over the years. When it comes down to it 100% of those people just aren't eating enough and lifting hard enough/intense enough.

Here's what you need to add 15-20 lbs.......eat and lift and sleep. Sounds simple right? Simple BUT EXTREMELY HARD TO DO OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. There is no magical supplement thats going to help you gain weight, except to the advanced lifter who already has everything down pat. Stay away from all of the stuff for now.

What you need to do is spend time reading and searching, reading and searching on here for a good 3-4 weeks. Then when you think you have a good handle on things read and search some more. Then come back here and ask some questions as it will be easier to understand what we're trying to teach/tell you.

Here is some questions you need to ask yourself now as to educate yourself for future use.

How much protein/carbs/fats am i taking in daily? And am i consistent day-to-day with these?
How many calories am i averaging a day?
Is my training really intesnse enough and structured properly?
What foods work best with my body?

That should get you started.

i have no clue for these question. How you calculate your calories needed or protein/carbs/fats daily taking though? I know i have to do research alot in order to understand your advice in the next level.

Not a problem bpd. I think you have to become a 'student of the game' in order to learn what YOUR BODY needs.

OK, so what did you eat today and at what times?
 
Well done main. bpd you really need to learn your nutrition. It's as simple as that. You have to know what foods contain what nutrients. Eat a diet rich in proteins and good solid carbs. Get some good fats into you as well. Peanut Butter is one of the many good foods you can eat (as an example) to help add some quality calories to your diet. Do your research here and you have come to the right place. Good luck and train hard.

Seriously i never pay attention to what i eat and how much these contain in term of calories/protein/carbs. Today i had Jack in the Box for breakfast @ 9:30am, @12:30 BBQ PORK rice, 3:30pm i got a banana and one glass of milk. I probably be hungry @5:30pm and dinner @10pm with rice. I don't really know how much calories or protein i had intake already ????
A lot of my friends 've been telling me that i don't eat enough, i have to eat more and more and eat alot but they don't understand ppl has different metabolism, i can not eat a big meal @ a time. I get it a lot when ppl say you have to eat ice cream or peanut butter or drink milk shake just right before you go to bed in order to gain weigh fast. But the thing is you can not eat that everyday. I did try those for 3 weeks and right now whenever i saw peanut butter it makes me wanna throw up already :(
I guess from now on i seriously have to learn my nutrition, to learn the NEEDS of my body. Again thank you very much for your feedback MainEvent, Oldfella

Yuo need to get a food scale, weigh everything yuo eat, then look it up to see what the grams of protein, carbs, and fat are. From this yuo can compute the overall calories. This is time-consuming, but it will teach yuo what yuo are eating. It also means eating meals and snacks yuo prepare and NOT shit like Jack in the Box, fast food, or take-out food.

Try to eat small meals or snacks every 2-2 1/2 hours throughout the day. Just to get yuo started, given yuor stats, try for at least 150 grams of protein, 250+ grams of carbs (NOT high sugar junk), and maybe 50-60 grams of good fats (natural peanut butter, flaxseed oil, nuts, etc).

Now yuo've got to figure out yuor training...
 
next time you are at the supermarket, put 20 pounds of lean beef in your basket, then ask yourself how much good food will my body need to build that much meat?
