been dealing with blood pressure issues for a while now and am on 80mg telmisartan daily.... I have an event coming up that I really need to get stronger for, do you guys think I will see much of a change going from 125/week to 250? I mean obviously I can just try it for a while but love to hear some input...
thanks,
Climber

I doubt it’ll change for the majority of people going from 125 to 250

While 125 to 250 is doubling your dose, it's still quite reasonable and not a large dose. That said, there is really no way to tell. I'd inject frequently and titrate up over a little time. Maybe go from 35mgs EOD to 55mgs EOD to 70mgs EOD and monitor as you go? I bet it won't change much.

Will you likely see a change? No.

But if you’re having BP issues at 125mg on 80mg Telmi you really need to dial things in man

Depends on why you have high BP now. So depending on that it is possible your BP will go up. Mine wouldn't but i don't have high BP to start with.

yeah, I wouldn't worry about that adjustment IMHO. I would be surprised if you see a significant rise in BP with only 250mgs.

FWIW, it would be best to get a home BP measuring kit, and monitor your BP as you increase the dosage.

I have been dealing with high BP myself, and was running 400mgss of Test a week without issues if i kept up the Norvasc.

Now dropped the Test and switching to an anabolic stack for cutting, and will monitor the BP to see what differences that makes.

So much this.

80mg telmistaran and you’re still having high blood pressure issues? What’s your body fat% and weight?

40mg Telmistaran completely knocks my blood pressure down into a normal range and that’s with dosages way much higher than you’re taking. I don’t think I’d be able to stand up without passing out on 80mg (due to low blood pressure)

If you don't already take them.. Consider Mag L-Threonate (was shocked ! some of the good brothers here recommended it) and or Carditone

Mine spikes from a compounded topical creme for back pain and they knock right down for me .

Hope it helps.

yeah thanks guys, pretty lean and do lots of cardio, high blood pressure runs in the family pretty badly and I'm no spring chicken either, working with a cardiologist right now and trying to dial some stuff in but also wanting a little bit of a boost before something important coming up soon...

What cardio do you do and what’s lots?

What’d diet? Food sources? Macros?

How is hydration?

CPAP really helped get my BP under control

As some said above with some added points:

-Cardio
-Hydration
-Make sure no sleep apnea
-Mag and Pottasium help control blood pressure
-Diet Quality (obviously)
-Make sure to get your BP test manually if you havnt VS machine. Ive been seeing a lot of faulty readings on automatic machines than when tested manually, which is more accurate, big difference. Once guys machine kept reading 140/150 over 80/90. He is on cialis and 80mg teli and TRT lol, I had him go check manually at CVS it was 105/70.
-If you do have this issue truly, get echocardiogram, cardiac ct scan and make sure to check cystatin-c on blood work to rule our cardiac and kidney issues.

I think every bodybuilder should own a wrist cuff BP monitor. I’ve found them to be far more accurate than the arm cuffs. As you said there is way too much variation on the arm machines lately which is likely due to cheap devices, but also the size of most guys arms.

To the OP- unless you’re using compounds that impact the CNS you shouldn’t have increases in BP with a controlled bump on a cycle of test. Weight, hydration, recovery and stress will play the largest roles. As well being sick can spike it and if COVID potentially could have a lingering impact.

But if the max dosage of an ARB isn’t controlling it then you should get cardiac testing and check lifestyle factors as Dom mentioned above. I would talk to your doctor about cardiac testing and exploring other BP meds if the ARB is not managing it- ACE, CCB or Nebilivol. Finding the root cause will help you know how to best manage it through all factors and medication type.

Most studies and sources i have seen recommend arm cuff for BP monitoring as they seem to be more accurate in general so that is what i use. As the Cleveland Clinic has been named a top clinic for decades i tend to pull info from them more often then some other places.

I use a wrist cuff. Not sure which is more accurate I just find it easier.

Lately though I notice my readings are sometimes nearly 20 points higher on the left than on the right. I’ve read that could be some kind of blockage on that side, but I had a cardiac cath test done a year ago and had no plaque in the arteries. Wonder why such a difference from side to side.
