What do you guys think ? Is the bodybuilding industry doing the right things in the sport to help it grow ? or are we always going to be a cult sport ? Do you think that with Dexter winning the Mr.O that was the right thing to do ? What about the NPC is it growing or is it starting to fail ? I mean look at womens bodybuilding, its dying ? Teen bodybuilding ? Master's is the biggest classes anymore (next to open mens) Whats going to happen ?

chris

I don't believe womens bodybuilding is dying. People keep saying that but the National numbers for FBBers stays pretty consistant from year to year. As far as the men go I think it's good that a guy like Dex wins (only for his physique, personalitly wise Jay was FAR better) but it's not going to make bodybuilding any more main stream. You would need Mr O to look like a fitness model to even come close to being truly mainstream. Honestly I hope it stays a cult sport any way. I like being different.

Buff,

I agree with you the numbers on national level shows are still good for women..But on the state or even NQ level shows the numbers are down...Figure and now bikini (dont get me started on this...LOL) is taking over the local level shows...

And yeah, being in a cult isnt really that bad...LOL !!!

Yeah it kinda makes me wonder where the National women are coming from. Some states must have really crazy numbers I guess cuz I know Jersey is down (well last year a couple shows had good numbers).

Sport will never be mainstream, fact of the matter is 99% of people do not have the discipline to look like a bodybuilder therefore will not partake in it. Less people involved = less competitors and less spectators.
