to all the veterans on promuscle,

what would be the single most important peice of advice you would give a beginner/ intermediate???

there can be more than one of course. maybe a competition peice and a peice on building muscle.

Don’t compromise your health

Be mindful of Phil Hermon's advise and you can't go wrong.
 
Your body is a Bank Account. Each day you can make a deposit or withdrawal. Healthy food in the right ration of macronutrients for you, informed weight training and cardio, proper recovery/sleep, informed supplementation, periodic physicals/blood tests are items that count as deposits. Bad diet, poor sleep, alcohol/drug abuse, uninformed training, supplement abuse, ignoring health testing count as withdrawals.

My advice? Make small deposits every day without fail, keep withdrawals to a minimum, and watch your "Account" grow.

3. training
4. recuperation
5. drugs

if you don't have at least 2-4 then don't even think about 5.
and if you don't have #1 then you can forget about being a good pro even if you have 2-5. you may become a pro but not a successful pro.

Advice? Take this sport for what it should always remain, a hobby, and never let it be your first concern in life. Otherwise odds you end up miserable in the long run are pretty high.
 
Protein in the middle of the night

Get enough protein into your body.

That includes protein drinks mixed with water swallowed in the middle of the

night when you get up to go pee. Think about it. You fast anywhere from 10

to 14 hour between meals, at night. Not good.

If I had to choose one, it would be to master your diet and eating for optimal results.
