Kevin Leverone has gotten his first big action movie called BackLash where he is one of the stars. The movie is due to be released in Sept.

It seems he is acting alongside Ken Shamrock and Danielle Burgio (of the Matrix).

Apparently, Kevin dropped 55 lbs of muscle to become an actor (as was suggested to him).

Interesting how society cant cope with varying body types? Who determined that the movie going public does not like to see muscle on film ? So even in this age of political correctness where we are not to frown upon obesity "because we are to accept people for who they are" we still have open and justified discrimination against certain body types ? (but being fat is becoming acceptable thanks to Dr Phil and Oprah telling us its ok accept when they are pushing their new weight loss books or doing a makeover segment :D )

I wonder if marketing agencies actually do surveys that are statistically appropriate to determine what the public cares about....or do they just decide for themselves what we want to see?

jesus...just drop the "world hates us" attitude.

first of, marketing agencies definetly do surveys

second, bodybuilders are bodybuilders, not action heroes. as for your rant on fat people...how many obese leading action stars have you seen?

levrone does look small..but healthy and happy and still stronger and more muscular than the average male...so good on him..also i don't think the world would have such a neg. attitude if the powers that be pushed more of a classic bb look...instead of the coleman look.. now dnt' misunderstand me i love coleman and all bbers and think they're awesome...but to get to that level is a lot of health risks....and from watching levrone and his videos I know that this is his option and he's happy so God Bless him

later on iron bros

i wish him the best,i know we all would love to do something like that, but he did payed his dues, and let him get what he always wanted.i can tell one thing, that its his time after all those years of go nuts in the gym.i am going to be first to suprt him, when his movie comes out.

Yes I find his getting into acting a great thing (if he is a good actor it will be even better..LOL ) :) So good on him.

I am surprised there are not more bodybuilders getting into action hero type movies playing either the action hero or the evil character/support roles. Perhaps this shows that there are opportunities out there for bodybuilders wanting to get into other fields if they pursue it just as much as they do when they are the gym sculpting the "perfect" physique. (uh...despite the market surveys)

Arnie looked like a bb'er in his first couple of movies - the Conan ones.

Lou Ferigno was huge in his TV role as the Hulk.

Major body transformation to say the least. More power to him in achieving his goals at becoming an actor...

Good for Kevin! When I saw him at the Arnold this year he was 'trimmed down' and it was the happiest Ive seen him-and Ive talked to him alot in the past, trained at his gym for awhile.
IMO its great to se a BBer try to make it, even if he is trimmed down.
And good point Xcel, Lou (asshole) and Arnold were huge in some TV-film parts.

Does Levrone aim to be the world's next high-flying action hero?

"I hope to be the guy with brawn ... and the brains."

Lets not forget Steve Reeves and all his Hercules movies, Hulk Hogan did a few, Gordon Scott with Tarzan....I am sure there are others if we put our minds to remembering them all. I think that the public expects a very muscular physique when the role is for super heros or action.

My experience has been that it is ASSUMED that the public want to see a slim physique however when you actually talk to the people that make the movies they say...oh we could not find a bodybuilder physique for this role so we just took an athletic looking person. I bet thats because these agencies go around telling everyone to lose muscle if they want mainstream roles...hehe. However, I would be that if a person only wanted super hero roles they may be able to keep their muscle (uh but have less work..hehe)

I agree..when i was growing up in the 80's i loved watching "heroes" like arnold and sylvester stallone whooping ass...I want my kids to grow up the same way too..but nowadays it seems the keaanu reeves type action hero is in..all digitized and skinny..but levrone is bigger than the other action heroes...I remmeber when i saw x men i got pissed cause i knew there were many bodybuilders that could've take the roles of Cyclops, wolverine and sabertooth..I hope we start saying more muscular guys whooping ass in movies..
I dont know if you guys remember brian bosworth..from what i recall he was pretty muscular...Dolph lundgren was great too...and than van damme turned into a lil bitch
If tony jaa from Onk Bak puts on about 20more lbs of muscle he'll look unreal
