I just start squatting again last week, after a full year off. Today was the second workout doing them - first I did my normal biceps, forearms, calves, hams, and adductors, then I worked up in sets of 5 on squats:

135 x 5
225 x 2 x 5
275 x 5
315 x 5
365 x 5
405 x 5
425 x 5
455 x 8

these were done with knee sleeves, not tight knee wraps.

then a backoff set on the Power Squat (should have gone lighter but heck that was only 100 pounds...):

weight was 234 this morning
 
Why did you take a full year off from squatting?

Awsome bro..looks too easy. I think you could have done 495 x 8 no problem
 
Dude, I would have a broken spine if I tried to get up under those weights.

Forgive my ignorance but what is a backoff set? Just really lighter than you last one?

I hate how on the Power Squat, when I have alot of weight loaded. I have to do a shrug and a tip-toe raise to get the stopper to fall. And it feels hairy putting all the weight on one leg after a good set.

I bet you are...especially after not squatting for a year.

I have to say that when you were squatting a lot last year is when I thought your quads looked the best.

I wasn't posting pics when I was squatting a lot though :confused:
I stopped squatting last January. After that all I did was leg presses and hacks.

Went back and looked at some old pictures.....your legs overall look much better now. I was wrong!

Awesome as always Shelby, having seen you workout, your video's are spot on, your intense with your training sessions!
 
If you are doing DC training, is doing 9 sets of squats, even though working up to one all out set the way to do it?

When I did DC this is the problem I had. Once you get very strong (200kg plus squat for 8-10 reps) you have to warm up throughly and this is very time consuming.
