this was written to an espn.com reporter covering the pro-hormone bill. I have developed a relationship with these guys over time so I look forward to getting a response.
"It's wonderful to hear all that our government is doing to stop our teens from taking pro-hormones. Every time I read one of these articles I read of the inherent health risks. Then it strikes me, none of these articles list the health risks. When was the last time someone took an andro tab and crashed into a car with a family on their way home from church? When was the last time someone took so many tabs of andro that their brain ceased to function? Never? Interesting, common occurrences with alcohol, yet our government chooses to regulate it instead of abolish it; same with cigarettes. Too much of anything is bad for you, but our government chooses to make pro-hormones and "performance enhancing drugs" the target. Why? How many tobacco companies and liquor companies fund campaigns and contribute money to politicians? The bottom line is money. Our government tells the people that they are looking out for us and the media tells us of the inherent health risks without so much as a word of what those risks are? What's really at risk here? Do more people play sports and live an active lifestyle or drink and smoke? Protecting our teens is a smokescreen. We now live in a country that does not support taking care of one's body. Our government’s actions tell us it is ok to drink alcohol and smoke cigarettes, but heaven forbid someone take a supplement that helps them be a better athlete or keep their bodies in top condition. If our government wants to look out for the well being of our teens, ban McDonald's."
