This might have been more appropriate in the beginner's section, but my threads never seem to get any attention there.

I was just wondering, is there a point to running a cycle and keeping food intake low, to lose fat? Say 1500-1800 calories. Will the addition of testosterone to a caloric deficit speed up fat loss in any way? Or is diet the only factor in losing fat?

Is a caloric surplus the only way to go on test?

Thanks.

This is a pretty vague question, but here goes!

Using AAS while in calorie deficit is good for maintaining muscle while consuming lower calories. It helps to maintain positive nitrogen balance thus slowing or stopping catabolism. Will it build muscle, well most likely NO. But the calories you have listed would suit a female figure competitior not a male trying to lose fat and maintain muscle. If you are a female then that is fine, but this is hard to say when we do not know your stats. But judgeing from your post I am guessing you are male because you mention the use of test.

The answer to your question is in the second part of your thread, DIET IS THE ONLY FACTOR IN LOSING FAT!! Training becomes the tool to help you.

Well it was just a hypothetical. Let's say two guys with the same stats/genetics both eating the same calories, both training hard (the guy on test might be training harder but let's just set that aside for the hypothetical). One is using testosterone, 500mg/week whatever, the other is not.

There will be no difference in fat loss? You're saying testosterone's benefits are limited only to building muscle faster as well as preserving muscle in a deficit? I'd love to hear clarification as well as other people's opinions.

Test is a potent androgen and as such also will increase metabolic rate. So test is a potent fat burner. The guy using 500/wk will come out on top if all other variables are the same as you say hypothetically.

Honestly, if youre on test, and in a negative calorie state, you will STILL put on muscle. It wont be the best growth you could achieve, but I assure you, you will STILL put on muscle WHILE dropping fat. Ive done this myself, and my first cycle EVER was a cutter and I ran test for 20 weeks, I went from like 25% BF to 15% and I got cut and jacked and got hell of a lot stronger.

I agree here but in the hypothetical mentioned...............if you are a male with any appreciable muscle mass trying to live on 1500-1800 cals you will be in trouble no matter what you are on. You cannot build muscle while starving your body. you can however maintain, but at that low intake even this is debatable.

Interesting. Good points from both of you. I want to hear more, though. I hope other people chime in.
