Black plastic for food use

Just remembered seeing this a few months ago, while reading “ so what are we really eating?” Thread.

TL/DR: there was a mistake/oversight in the plastics recycling industry. Black plastic has some nasty fire retardants in them and weren’t supposed to be recycled. They’re being used as carry out containers and spatulas ect.

use glass for everything bro. period. take it from someone that has had many people close to them battle cancer, any and all oncologist will tell you, only use glass.

I quit warming anything in plastic over 30 years ago. Studies have shown for years that chemicals can leach out when heated. Microwave safe means it wont melt or catch fire. Not that chemicals wont leach out. Same reason i quit using Teflon pans decades ago. To many cancer causing ingredients in the coating. Coatings in general i am warry of. Whether it is on pans or the chemicals that are used on things like Saran wrap etc. When i am ingesting chemicals i need to see enough of an upside to make it worth while for me.

I just barely got on this train after warming my shit in plastic containers and laughing at my wife for switching our stuff out for glass.

A guy can be wrong. Just hoping I didn't do too much damage in the meantime.

Not only is there the carcinogens concerns, but now the more we learn about the micro plastics they are finding in people's livers and kidneys it's just such a reason to stay away.

I find the volume of damage from any one source tends not to be the biggest problem. Depends on how many sources that are less then healthy a person chooses over many years that seems to be the big determining factor.
