I had very mild sleep apnea. “Woke up” 9 times an hour. Not sure how significant that is but I feel like I sleep fine.
The very first time I got tested I had 91 sleep disturbances per hour, lol. 9 is nothing.

Wow I think I’m gonna give this a go too, you said snoring I’m assuming this would help with mild apnea.Trying this ASAP![]()
I was at 12 per hour now with a CPAP I’m under 1 per hour and it definitely matters, 9 times going hypoxic is say 72 times a night that’s a lot of oxygen depletion to your heart and other organs over time this will speed up your aging and obviously your death. The very first time I got tested I had 91 sleep disturbances per hour, lol. 9 is nothing.
Just get the Cpap. Actually you want an Apap. Adjust your air automatically as needed throughout the night. Been wearing one for 19yrs. If I didn't even need it anymore I would probably still wear it. Lol. You get use to it. Its like having a blanky.Any feedback on one that’s better or what I should look for? I want to give it a try before I get a cpap.
I just find it strange that everyone who gets tested supposedly has sleep apnea. Were all humans meant to sleep using a machine? Or did we somehow evolve into having smaller openings in our throats..I was at 12 per hour now with a CPAP I’m under 1 per hour and it definitely matters, 9 times going hypoxic is say 72 times a night that’s a lot of oxygen depletion to your heart and other organs over time this will speed up your aging and obviously your death.

Everyone who uses the cpap raves about them.. me, I was very uncomfortable and couldn’t sleep with it. I had the nose pillow, maybe I should have tried the full mask. I’m a side sleeper, and sometimes face down. Very rarely can fall and stay asleep on my back. I have no idea how I’d sleep with that tube connected to the machine.
People evolved into being lard asses. Obesity is the primary cause ie (neck size). Fat people have fat necks. For guys like us it is large necks AND large trapz. So we get a double whammy. Every single person I know that has it is Fat. Except me. Although I sure am not lean by this sites standards. I believe my neck was 18-19 inches when I graduated high school. I weighed about 215 then. I'm 6'1. My head is 24 inches in circumference. Large head, large neck, large trapz = sleep apnea. Look at a picture or video from the 50's or 60's. Nobody was fat back then. Its crazy. Not like today. President Taft was like 330lbs. He was considered a whale back then. If I remember correctly they had to put a special tub in the White House for him. Today 330lbs doesn't even get a second look from people.I just find it strange that everyone who gets tested supposedly has sleep apnea. Were all humans meant to sleep using a machine? Try just the nasal mask. Just fits over your nose. I'd freak with a full face mask. Claustrophobic.Interesting theory could well be some truth to it
I’ve also not been able to use the cpap but for me I have a deviated septum also so with the full face mask (pillow is useless) it just suffocates me

I've got nasal/sinus issues myself. When I lay my head down at night if I turn my head to the left usually one side of my nose opens up and I can breathe. If I turn it to the right it will often stop up. Drives me crazy sometimes. For the most part one side of my nose stays stopped up year round. It goes back and forth from left to right side. As long as I can breathe through one side I am fine. But if both are closed off then hell no. I cannot sleep breathing through my mouth.I did get one actually a little better but sadly still the same issue I think correction surgery would be required to be able to use it
Yea I can’t argue there. People have sure gotten fatter it’s sad.People evolved into being lard asses. Obesity is the primary cause ie (neck size). Fat people have fat necks. Does it really matter if we know it’s for our health?I just find it strange that everyone who gets tested supposedly has sleep apnea. Were all humans meant to sleep using a machine? Or did we somehow evolve into having smaller openings in our throats..

I sleep on my back I use nose cone the pillows were unmanageable for me. I’ve known a few who got negative results for apnea I think it’s a high rate of positives bc A. We are living much longer than most of our existence and B. You don’t get a sleep study unless there’s snoring, wife notices you not breathing (my catch) and other things waking up gasping sleeping but daytime fatigue so the people getting tested have the tell tale signs of it, I think if every pcp tested every patient it woukd bevlike 50% or so, higher among men obviouslyI just find it strange that everyone who gets tested supposedly has sleep apnea. Well it matters to me because i can’t sleep with the damn thing. So I’d very much like to know how bad mild sleep apnea is and I’d also like to know if the practice is somewhat of a gimmick. Not saying people with severe sleep apnea don’t need a fix… but if it’s pushed on every single person walking into their office I wouldn’t be surprised. We already know the healthcare industry is profit driven. Is it really a stretch what I’m saying?Does it really matter if we know it’s for our health?
People years ago walked around suffering from a lot of things. We now have the technology to fix said issues.
Totally agree about the profit driven part. However in general people aren't even sent for a sleep study unless they first have symptoms of sleep apnea, ie large neck, snoring, high blood pressure, getting tired and falling asleep during the day. Usually a combo of those things.Well it matters to me because i can’t sleep with the damn thing. You tape your mouth shut? I have to as well the radiation fried my jaw muscles and I use a CPAP. I utterly hate taping my mouth shut at night. The mouthpieces work... took my snoring from over 2 hours a night to under 40 minutes... with mouth tape nearly zero. But still don't feel like its DEEP sleep maybe because the device is annoying... jaw comfort isn't too bad. Will keep experimenting with it and mag glycinate - this is the closest I have been to quality sleep in years lol
I would disagree, actually. CPAPs definitely aren’t handed out like candy. Not saying people with severe sleep apnea don’t need a fix… but if it’s pushed on every single person walking into their office I wouldn’t be surprised.
The VA, imo shows how significant the CPAP is, the Va is the cheapest shit show on earth and they pass em out bc the long term decrease in other issues is dramatic, they give you stats like BP drop in 40% patients HA risk drop 70% etc.I would disagree, actually. Funny enough, one of my best friends JUST got a sleep study done and even though he’s 260 6’0 out of shape with poor sleep he was told he didn’t have enough events to warrant treatment.
Either way… here’s the reality. Things/drugs/treatments can be used for profit but also save lives. Think of high BP treatments or diabetes treatments.
