Do you supplement with Ubiquinol? I've read about other medications depleting this as well and if you do not that may be what you need since you mentioned that the prednisolone was depleting heart minerals and I believe this to be an essential mineral for the heart. Also have you tried once weekly dosing of something very small like 4-8mg of prednisolone instead of 60mg?The one bonus dose of prednisone weekly/as long as possible in between doses has taught me a lot. I’ve done this 5 times so far, I think? One thing I learned the hard way in regards to taking one big dose of prednisone with no tapering is it can really mess up your electrolytes and cardiac rhythm. A month or so ago I took my 60mg prednisone and while my severe sciatica pain and overall joint pain was diminished, I had severe A-fib, heart arthymia, messed up heart rhythm all the way around for a week. I avoid doctors like the plague. I wasn’t sure if my heart would stop or not. I got my will taken care of. My heart was skipping every other beat for a long time with a pulse of 45, then skipping every 3rd beat, then going from fast to slow, and all over the place. I did research online and found that prednisone can severely deplete electrolytes necessary for heart rhythm. My diet was severely lacking in potassium. I had virtually none in my diet since I tend to live on protein/oat shakes. Since that scary situation I make sure for the days surrounding my bolus dose of 60mg prednisone to eat a lot of bananas and white potatoes for potassium, I take magnesium(500mg 3 times a day), I eat extra strength tums 1000mg calcium carbonate multiple times a day, and I add salt to my potatoes and cottage cheese. I try to avoid taking the bolus dose of prednisone until the pain is so severe that I can’t do much other than lie in bed all day. I went 8 days last time. 14 days the time before that. I don’t take this protocol lightly at all! I believe it is very risky! But it’s the one thing that helps. The side effects I feel every time I take prednisone this way, now that the heart arthymia is under control (the illusion of control anyway) is I get constant hiccups for days following the dose of prednisone, and acid reflux. So far, this routine has allowed me to go back on HRT and I’ve put on 25Lbs of muscle that was lost while being bed ridden for 3 months unable to workout or take my HRT. In conclusion, I don’t recommend following this protocol. Spontaneous death from heart stoppage is a possibility. If you end up trying this make sure to take in additional potassium, magnesium, and calcium.
Why are you doing this rather than spreading the dose out or working up then down? The one bonus dose of prednisone weekly/as long as possible in between doses has taught me a lot. No. I haven’t tried Ubiquinol or low dose prednisone.Do you supplement with Ubiquinol? Taking prednisone daily is catabolic, increases glucose levels, adds adipose tissue, and raises blood pressure. The 3 studies on one bolus dose per week showed the exact opposite which was that prednisone used in this manner is anabolic, reduces adipose tissue, stabalizes blood glucose levels, and shows no increase in blood pressure. Now, take that with a grain of salt because 2 of the studies were done in both adults and children with muscular dystrophy, and one study was done on mice. Why are you doing this rather than spreading the dose out or working up then down?

Safety wise, I 100% agree with you. When I did the typical 10 day taper where you start at 60mg and slowly bring it down to 10mg over 10 days, I got the most pain relief and zero issues with my heart. I just have that darn bodybuilder mindset of not wanting catabolic effects if I can squeeze out anabolic effects. Not very smart! I couldn’t figure out why everyone said to be very careful, and that prednisone is extremely dangerous. Now I understand. I read that 84% of prednisone users get some form of A-fib, and some have died spontaneously from heart stoppage.I'm not a doctor nor an expert but I would rarely use the stuff if I could and I would do a ramp up and down as that is what I have seen at work as a standard if I had to take the stuff. The heart rhythm stuff would make me not want to do what you did again.
I was doing once weekly prednisone but it wasn't a huge dose. It really helped me deal with the massive inflammation from the stresses of training and life. I have not done it in 6 weeks. You sound like you have a lot of inflammation like I had. I started grounding 6 weeks ago and feel completely pain free and bounce out of bed in the am. I started a thread on here about it. I sleep so deep that I need an alarm clock to get me up. I don't even get up to use the restroom either. Training is about 35% better. I try to tell those in chronic pain about it all the time. The one bonus dose of prednisone weekly/as long as possible in between doses has taught me a lot. I’ve done this 5 times so far, I think? I have pain everywhere. All of my joints are destroyed. Most of my day is spent lying on my bed. I can’t straighten arms. My leg is numb. I’m putting off spine surgery as long as I can.I was doing once weekly prednisone but it wasn't a huge dose. I would encourage you to try it. My brother in law has MS and it has helped him tremendously.I have pain everywhere. All of my joints are destroyed. Most of my day is spent lying on my bed. I can’t straighten arms. My leg is numb. I’m putting off spine surgery as long as I can.
That’s rough! My grandma had MS.I would encourage you to try it. My brother in law has MS and it has helped him tremendously.
What dose was it and for how long? Also do you have a thread link? I've become very interested in this topic.I was doing once weekly prednisone but it wasn't a huge dose. I just order 1 thx for the heads-up 1I would encourage you to try it. My brother in law has MS and it has helped him tremendously.
You need to rest and allow your body time to heal itself. Sounds like a possible bulging disc to me. Leg training is the worst for causing L5/S1 nerve root irritation. So you’ll need to stay away from leg training until the swelling goes down. A bulging disc can take anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months to heal. I wish you the best.Anyone had success with this for spinal issues.
I cracked some ribs recently, took about 6 wks off training. Jumped back into it a couple weeks ago, to get ready for Mexico trip in mid September. Ended up fucking up L5/S1, dam near crippling me, this weekend.
Got a script for this Methylprednisolone today to see if it helps at all. Googlefu has me thinking I should seek other alternatives.
Anyone have/had L5/S1 issues? Sitting, standing, twisting, turning, getting in and out of vehicle, are not in the cards right now. Only thing that is acceptable is laying on my back with a heat pad. I’ll be reaching out to my chiro to refer me to PT, tomorrow.
I think it was page 2 of this thread post 25 and 27What dose was it and for how long? Also do you have a thread link? I've become very interested in this topic.
I was wondering what you still thought after a couple weeks. I glad its still working. I still want to but the pillow case version or the pad.I think it was page 2 of this thread post 25 and 27
I still am waiting for the drop off but still feel the positive effects each day. I have 5 grounding mats and 2 grounding pads. I sleep on the two mats on the bed skin to skin and have a grounding pad on my pillow. I even have a mat at work and carry one in my gym bag. I ground immediately after training and within 10 minutes very refreshed and cooled down. Really significant on leg days as I can actually walk to my car and drive home without rubber legs and not using driver assist auto driving. Most notably I am no longer a cripple the days after leg day.I was wondering what you still thought after a couple weeks. I glad its still working.
