Vial Adapters - anyone use these?

Have any of you used these?

I've never heard of these until a couple of weeks ago. When I read about them in a post on social media, I thought maybe I had missed something that had become popular, and it seemed like a good idea when it was explained. I remember thinking, "Damn, that seems like a good idea; I don't know why I haven't heard of these before now."

In short, they are supposed to be pushed into a vial, and you leave it in and draw through the hub until the vial is empty, and then you throw it out. You use a new adapter for a new vial. It allegedly cuts down on bacteria, potential rubber-stopper material getting into the vials from repeated use, etc.

I bought about 50 of them (they're cheap) because it sounded like something I would probably like and continue to use.

I had 4 vials I was using, so I used 4 adapters.

They sucked.

I got pissed because it basically ruined 4 vials of gear (not that I have a shortage, mind you), and I had to try to salvage what was left from all 4 bottles.

I threw all of them in the trash.

Note to self: I have been a professional drug user for decades. I have always drawn from vials using the traditional (normal) method. I will continue to use the normal method.

I've never heard of it. Looks like it would be difficult to get the last precious drops out. Looking at the two little pointed pieces on the sides, it doesn't look like you can pull it out once it's in.

The idea is good, in that you'd only need to pierce the stopper once. The quality of rubber stoppers seem to have gone down hill massively in recent times, atleast the ones I'm using. Even drawing with a blue is causing it to break apart.

That looks like it would complelety destroy the stopper going in.

The traditional method has always worked fine for me so I stick with that.

I see some people fear mongering about bacteria and the need for these but I just don’t see it personally. Never have issues with stoppers drawing from a 10ml vial with a 23g

i bought some for my buddies birthday gift and they work fine.
the brand was BBraun and they have a 0.05 µm filter

I have used these at work in the past. The part that pierces the rubber stopped can tilt back and forth allowing for leaks. You would have to hold the bottle and the device still together to keep the two remaining lined up and sealed while drawling. They worked well when you need to load numerous syringes all at once and maybe exhaust the vial by the end of that use. I would do the same thing virtually using an 18g needle as well but rotating syringes off it and keeping the 18g needle still. Of course removed the 18g needle for storage of vial.

One of our best sponsors here uses silicone stoppers instead of rubber, and they're SO much better. I wish more sponsors used them

I first saw that or something like that a few years ago. Never have had an issue with just plan old rubber stoppers for the most part. Other then maybe a 50ml jug that i was using for TRT. Then the stopper could look a little beat up. But no rubber ever fell off and never have had a infection in 25 years of doing injections so i guess i will continue they way i have always been doing it.

Those things are horrible. I used it once a while back and at first I thought its was ok until one of my vials had turned on it’s side and the next time I went to get it. it had leak a good amount of oil out. It would have leaked more but the oil level was already too low to keep leaking. It leaked because it opens a big hole in the rubber stopper and leaked out the stopper

You can absolutely pull it out after you put it in (I'm way to mature to respond inappropriately... or am I?), but from first-hand experience, it absolutely fucking destroys the vial.

It would have leaked more but the oil level was already too low to keep leaking. It leaked because it opens a big hole in the rubber stopper and leaked out the stopper

And it didn't take long to notice the large amount of oil running out of the vial the first time I tried to draw from the adapter thing. I honestly thought I was doing it wrong, but I wasn't. Using the adapter with the vial felt analogous to stabbing someone with a gardening shovel and while holding the shovel in them, you expect them not to bleed.

I haven’t used them myself, they’re somewhat popular on another board I’m on with a source who offers them. He has BD brand and a different brand. Supposedly the BD are really good per reviews.

I used it twice and didn’t see any leaks but the third time my vials had fallen sideways and when I went to get it i noticed the oil leaked out. And trying to stab the stopper with that thing I had to push with a bit of pressure I thought it was going to push the stopper into the vial.

I tried on 1 vial and the flow was so fast, lost of loss. Sticking with 23g draw needle. These would be good if you were drawing 5ml of oil at a time
