Magnesium has a well know affect on muscles; it is mentioned in Merck as
having a "curare" like , muscle relaxing affect. Hence, fasciculations,
muscle twitches, are often a sign of low mag and can be alleviated with it.
Ever gone into premature labor? They stick you on an i.v. magnesium. Why?
Calms down the contractions. There are also numerous medical papers noting
that migraine sufferers and people with symptomatic mitral valve prolapse
frequently have low INTRA-CELLULAR levels of mag ( which is different from
plasma levels and, no, i'm not going into all that here. Anyone who is
interested and do the digging.. among the authors to look for are Leo Galland,
M.D. and Cecil Coghlan, M.D.)...
