How long would you say it takes to fully develop muscle maturity...maybe 4-5 years? Longer?
 
when u train the muscle , igf-1 levels in there increase , so there is increase in the muscle quality although the size may not increase . so basically , the more often u train the muscle while still recovering well , muscle maturity will increase . u can look at training methods such as bryan haycock's HST or dc's method .
 
I think alot of it depends on the person.

How would you describe "increase in muscle quality"? Density, vascularity, shape? What changes about the look of the muscle to give it a more "mature" look?
 
a mature look is not what i'm talking about, i'm asking about after how long would a person's body accept the current weight they are at. for example, ronnie coleman is 40 years old, he's had like 240 lbs of muscle on him for quite some time (before this year) so he wouldn't really have to workout all the time to maintain it just like twice a week.
 
If he's anything like me, it's not workout frequency, it's being able to eat enough to support keeping that much muscle!

that makes sense! I was talking with this one guy i know who is 51 years old, 6'0" and 240 ish very lean and he kind of said the same thing. he's been competing forever and has won many titles here in oregon. you might know him xcel.
