I have been thinking about this for a while, is there a better alternative to muscle milk? I like the high calories and the taste, but I question the quality of the protein. I have been using Muscle Milk for about a year and recently I notice it gives me more gas than normal:eek: It never used to do this but it has gotten bad recently, my g/f has to leave the room, lol. I use trueprotein's whey isolate(cfm) pwo only and I love it. It seems like I feel better digesting this type of protein than whatever the hell is in muscle milk. Can anyone suggest a product or method that would help me get calories/protein in without having to chew all the time? I eat between 3 and 4 whole food meals a day, but I like the convenience, speed and easy digestabilty of liquid meals, especially when it's HOT and my appetite is lower. Ideas anyone??

Well your body feels better digesting the isolate, because that is the quickest digesting protein (as far as whey goes) and it doesnt come with all the other additives that Muscle Milk does. Personally, I love the taste of muscle milk, but have heard a number of so-so reviews on it. I'm not a fan of the high fat and other junk in it, and post workout you can use much better products. Right after your workout take waxy maize (found on trueprotein) with bcaa's and about 15 mins later consume whey isolate. As far as something high calorie, maybe just a weight gainer powder? Or try blending up a protein smoothie (peanut butter, oats, whey isolate or concentrate, milk, fruit, whatever you want). Those might be better alternatives for you in terms of a liquid meal. Correct me if i'm wrong, but muscle milk is a blend of proteins? Maybe that is what is giving you the undesirable effects. Muscle milk is just so damn expensive! Anyways, hope this helps man.

I noticed sipping the muscle milk(rtd) with water helps out a lot for digestion/gas...the powder form doesn't bother me nearly as much as the rtd

I appreciate the input bro, I actually already use waxy from tp (see my other thread "My First" in this forum) and I definitely recover faster/look fuller since I started using it. Musc milk is a blend of whey conc and micellar casein. I just question the quality of the actual protein and wonder if there are maybe some fillers in there. The fats in muscmilk are debatable, but like I said I like the high-calorie punch as a stand-alone meal. I can use four scoops of musc milk, 16oz of whole milk, and either some natty peanut butter or olive oil and get a shake with approx. 1200 cals which is hard to do with clean foods(esp. in FL in the summer when its hot and humid and harder to eat I can always pound down a shake). I don't really like traditional high-carb weight gainers because they usually make me too fat and I get drowsy afterwards from the massive insulin spike. I was reading in Building The Perfect Beast about wheat flour being a low GI carb that does not spike insulin so I was thinking maybe I could use whey isolate with some of that flour in there during the day(for extra cals.), then a whey/casein blend with a little olive oil at night. I have been consistently impressed with the quality of trueprotein's products, they absolutley rock! I think after running out of musc milk I will try some custom blends from tp and see how some. ~Peace.:)

For weight gainer powders I like Dorian Yates ProPeptide MBF. Use it between meals( breakfast and lunch, lunch and dinner). You can mix it with milk or water. If you mix it with milk use organic 2%. Skim milk sucks.

Thanks for the input bro, much appreciated.:)

I love Muscle Milk. I personally don't think there is a better tasting mix out there, but others may disagree. The only downside is the price, but I can live with it.

I use Muscle Milk for Breakfast and before Bed. All other shakes throughout the day come from Optimum Whey. Although the Optimum tastes nasty after getting used to MM.

This taste better and mixes easier.

I appreciate the link bro. who is the blonde on the first page of that site? (where it says 'enter site') She's smokin'! The only disadvantage to protein on its own is it does not pack the caloric punch of muscle milk or a weight gainer. I am looking for something to get the calories down without chewing so damn much food, lol. that's the main reason I like muscle milk is its high calorie content makes it easier to get in 4-5000 kcals per day. I use four scoops (a la Hardcore Bulking Part One) with some natty pb in whole milk and I get well over a thousand in just one shake. My hesitation on using a weight gainer is all the high GI carbs they usually contain(prolab NLarge made me sleepy as hell from the insulin release). Muscle milk's calories come mostly from fat. Thanks again for all the replies, I am still searching, gonna try a few things, maybe I just stick with it. It does taste damn good! mmmmm cookies n' cream.:)

Melissa detwiller, she is completely naked on MD.com and shoe loves anal

I think its already been said but I love muscle milk. However, its a poor susbstitue for whey proteins that are fast acting post and pre workout. The fat in muscle milk is mostly from triglycerides, which are good as long as they are kept in reasonable doses. In other words the shake is ideal to pack on the lbs if your drinking it as midnight snack

Which is your favorite / recommendation for a fast acting protein?

I like whey isolate cfm overall, but will occasionaly use some hydrolyzed whey pwo. Hydro. whey is noticeably faster than isolate to me.
