Dose anyone know anything about a muscle not responding? I have muscle around and under my clavlical that is not responding when i try to use it. This muscle is used to support my shoulder blade while doing benches or in front of the body shoulder raises. This muscle refuses to contract and wings out with the tip pointing out. I had no initial injury just woke up one day in pain. Days later i realized that this muscle was not working.

is this actually a diagnosed problem or do you psychologically perceive this to the the problem?

IMO i would seek medical advice since alot of injuries are hard to identify unless they can be examined properly by someone knowledgeable

wen someone with no medical background trys to describe a perceived injury it is very difficult to conclude what the problem could be, or what action to take purely becoz proper examination is required to be certain

just go see the doc, if you know what the actual problem is then people here will have a better opportunity and understanding to help you

I have seen a chiropractor with a degree in neurology. He said the muscle is not responding. I am considering seeing a physical therapist and or a traditional doc.
The chiro basically said do extended push ups and wait and see.

why would you see a chiropractor for a muscle issue?

i would see someone else who specialists in the field of muscular problems

not saying chiropractors not helpful, but for the best possible solution i would go see a doc who can refer you to someone, or someone who specializes in muscle issue

anyways all the best, i hope someone who has faced a similar issue contributes to this thread

I saw the chiropractor because i had neck pain along with the shoulder issue. It seemed like a good place to start.

not understanding which muscle you're speaking of? from what it sounds like its either rhomboids or mid/low trap. in personal training, we call it neural inhibition, where tightness in the antagonizing muscle shuts down the motor pattern of target muscle. what you said about winging out sounds like rhomboids, that means the pec major and minor are tight and need some stretching/lengthening. it's also associated with weakness in external rotators, particularly infraspinatus, and can cause injury in proximal portion(around shoulder) of bicep long head. go see a physical therapist as some chiropractors aren't too knowledgeable in terms of BB training. also google ''forward neck syndrome'' and ''upper cross syndrome'' if you do lots of bench spend alot of time online, you may have it. I'm not a doctor so just mention what I said to the therapist, it just might help them look further into the problem. wish you a speedy recovery.

Yes you are right about were the non responding muscle is. I was told by chiropractor it was associated with the long bicep head and the pectoral. I went to this chiropractor because of his degree in neurology and how he integrates it into chiropractics. I felt the the problem was with the muscle and brain response. I am going to go to the doc tomorrow and get a referral to a physical therapist.

Thanx a lot for the feed back. I will look the neck symptoms up.

So i thought i would up date you guys on the problem and diagnosis of what is going on. In case someone else has this odd problem. So i am still doing physical therapy to help the muscle recover. The diagnosis is that i have nerve damage in anterior seratis. The nerve damage causes the muscle to not contract. recover time is normally 4-6 weeks. Luckily peptides have help almost healed me in 3 weeks. This was caused by apparently sleeping funny. The weakest way to get injured.

Wow. Glad to hear you are doing better. Does the Doc or PT have any idea how this happened? Maybe just sleeping on it the wrong way or?

Sleeping in bad positions is not to be taken lightly. I have caused nerve impingement with my cervical vertabrae in the past by sleeping with my head too elevated on 2 pillows. I have since learned to sleep as flat as possible when on my back.

Ive had many bad experiences in pain from sleeping the wrong way. I used to sleep alot sitting upright in chairs and such and it would kill my neck and back. Enough can not be said about a good mattress and pillows. I too sleep on my back as flat as possible and typically wake up feeling great.
