my "pre workout" supp: dextrose tabs

i am no nutrition expert but have been around a bit. lots of guys take pre workout supps. there are times i might have to skip the meal prior to workout and so liekly have low blood sugar when i arrive at the gym. takes me about 15 minutes to change from work clothes to gym clothes. in this time i suck on 3-4 dextrose tabs (those for diabetics) and sip on protein drink maybe.
i feel the "pre wokrout" necessity is blood suger. so a good pre workout supp if on an empty stomach could be dextrose tabs?

you dont need to eat carbs before your workouts. your body stores them as muscle glycogen for DAYS, its the biggest myth that loading up on sugar before a workout increases performance.
quick digesting intra workout carbs might be beneficial if your workouts are extremely long and intense, otherwise pre workout carbs are not necessary.

google carb backloading, its a system thats based on only eating carbs right after a workout and its highly effective. :headbang:

preworkout carbs are great for me

bigger pumps, more strength, more endurance


training without carbs always hinders my performance, so even when dieting i adjust my carb intake to bookend my training

yeah it probably comes down to personal preference. i ALWAYS work out on empty stomach, i usually eat a small protein/fat meal 3 hours before the gym. when bulking i usually add a whey shake right before my workout. i eat carbs only after the workout and on off days.
i hate digesting food while at the gym and with carbs its usually worse. when i get home i just stuff myself and dont care about being bloated, feels good:D

This is correct. I always eat a bare minimum of 3 hours before training but prefer 5 or more. I like a scoop of whey and tin of tuna just before to keep some aminos in the blood during workout but that's it. When I work nights I carb up before sleeping, sleep 6 hours, get up hydrate, scoop of whey and workouts awesome, far better than if I'm trying to digest food. After workout I eat 0 carbs for 12 hours minimum up to 2 days, in fact not untill I need to refill glycogen for next workout
