I feel this is way im lacking development in my chest but my shoulders are getting massive and everyone give me compliments..

should i lower my weights and start my chest workouts all over again

i dont kno? i dont workout witha a partner i tend to talk to much, but when i need a spot theres always a cool bro at the gym that helps me out

even with flyies i can look dont an see my chest getting flexed, but i also notice my front delts taking a lot of it too

any suggestions on how to target more of my pectorial area?

Decline bench will almost completely take the delts out of the movement.

Focus on the muscle being trained!! Mind to muscle connection.

x2 bro i have the same prob its so bad that i realy dontt train shoulders often cause i dont want to be unproportional.doing cable crossovers helps me focus on my pecs and dips. but their not huge gains cause the weight isnt that of a db/bb press. there has got to be more out there i would love to hear something on this as well.

yeah i love decline...im gonna start a weighted dips routine, i havent been doing it, except to tricep only focus

i feel my chest is all thats lacking but my shoulders are so big seems like my chest doesnt get a chance to contract

maybe ill just sytherol my chest haha

i have the same problem bro. my front delts used to take over all my chest exercises, but now i don't do any more free weights except decline bb. other than that just use hammer machines cause they seem to take em out as long as you keep your shoulders pulled back

sounds like a plan im going to give that a try see if i can focus on tue muscle directly.. thanks.. cbb keep me posted if you fibd any other workouts or if this works for you good luck bro

Try bringing elbows in a bit, it seems to take some stress off ant. delts, at least I thought so. Tip from Mr. Charles glass

I also have that same experience. my shoulders are huge in comparison to my chest. actually it was really hard to get fitted for a business suit recently because none of those bastards fit right because of my shoulders. I started incorporating the hammer strength machines and I seem to get more of that focused pinch in my chest similar to cables. hopefully hammers are the answer to the problem.

FORM is key to any exercise. Too many guys toss tons of weights on a bar or dumb bells just to prove they can get the damn thing up in the air. But if your form is off then what are you really accomplishing? I would say lighten the load a bit. Learn how to connect your mind with the body part you are training. Once you have the mind and body part connection and you learn to squeeze that muscle correctly. Then I would suggest you go up in weight some. BUT don't go up in weight to quickly and then sacrafice form again.

Good Luck.

wish i had that problem.
i have NO front delts, but a huge chest.

Great advice , but Brother what if I/they have all that together would a decline help ?
And how deep a decline would it need to be?

Scapular Retraction my friend. You need to bring those shoulders back and pretend you are trying to hold a pencil in the middle of your back.

I can't stress how important that is to learn and do.

pick exercise that isolat chest and eliminate most of delts.
dips, declines
and i would'nt use a bar. it puts your arms in a fixed plane of motion that might not be best for YOUR skeleton. dumbells allow you to tweak a move to best hit your areas of intent.
i would never do flyes if i were you. hell, i am me and i don';t do em. ever. i don't see a reason. it puts your chest in its weakest position and you cant push much weight and its very easy to cheat with other arms muscle and delts etc.

This is what I was waiting for someone to chime in with. This is the correct technique to minimize delt involvement. As blstrm mentioned hand placement is critical to load. Do not go too wide or too narrow. But scapular retracting will do what you want. takes some getting used to but works very well. Remeber, your delts will be involved in any pressing movement you do, except legs..... so all you can do is minimize how much they work.

The advice i gave is for any body part. Mind and body connection and form are the key to any exercise. Whether the body part is lagging or not. As for degree of decline, you need to experiment just a bit and find out which decline degree lets you hit your chest the best. Everyone is different.

Good luck.

Correct and this can be applied to everything, I make sure to do this on pretty much every upper body movement. When I was a trainer during and after college the owner of the studio burned this in our heads, always stress scapular retraction.
