We were doing legs (I had to go smith with no hands for squats which was effected). We often do deads with hams because I feel that it hits the hams just as much as the back. He usually goes up pretty high near the end. He was on his last set (495lbs) he got through it ok and then he went to get the plates off and tried to pick up his side (5 plates) with one had like a dumb ass and he fucking tore his bicep clean off the bone. THE WHOLE SHIT JUST ROLLED UP IN HIS SHOULDER. Man I feel for anybody who has had this done to them. He also competes and I know this is going to have a long term effect on him..I am sure the shape will not return to normal.

thats gotta be so damn painful. sorry to hear about your friend.

how much pain was he in when it happened. I'm sure it was excrutiating

Torn Bicep

Did'nt you just tear your bicep too weight77? Talk about some bad luck!:(

He just screamed and sat down then some of the trainers came over and we helped him to a car and he was taken to the hospital..He knew exactly what was wrong when it happened and man that is hard to watch..This guy was going for nationals and was really into it and now this shit happens..I just hope he can have it reattached right so it does not look fucked up..Do any of you guys know if this is possible..Do you think it is fixbable.

No mine was my labrum in the shoulder..But the blood did come down a bit into that area..But I am not going to let it hold my legs back..I was in the gym today..

I tore the long head of my bicep(where bicep runs into shoulder and chest) a few years ago and did not need surgery but it looks like someone took a bit out of my arm . If I tore the short head (where bicep connects to forearm) of the bicep that is when you need to have surgery ,sounds like you buddy tore his short head .

weight, if he gets a good qualified doc, the bicep should look just fine.. it really depends on where the tear was and what part of the muscle it is..many people have torn their biceps (vince taylor, and many others) and their biceps look fine.. just get a qualified doc..

thanks guys..Yes sounds as though it is the short head of the bicep. I never thought somebody could tare a muscle just by taking the plates off..Major set back..

depending on his financial situation there is a great doctor who does most of the work on WWE wrestlers in Alabama iI believe... anyone remember his name? He did HHH's torn quad and had Trip back up in no time.

My neighbor just tore his bicep last week picking up a box at the restraunt he works at. He had surgery to reattach it three days later. I was kind of surprised they waited that long, but maybe thats normal. Tell your friend good luck. That sucks, and my friend said it's very painful.

I'm guessing but they may have waited for the swelling to
go down before the surgery.

My father just tore his bicep like weight77's partner back in the end of December. They waited a week to do the surgery and now he's back to using 5lbs db's for reps on curls. He's in his 50's so his recovery time should be a little longer. The bicep is shorter than it used to be, but it's not that bad.

Yeah he is have it fixed once his arm starts goin down. So probally tomorrow. He called me today and wel talked about injuries and things. He is VERY depressed about this. It is tough to work though a injury but it is a part of the game. When you can't train something all you think about is how bad you want to train it. Makes you step back and not take thigs for granted.

Derek that is not a tare that looks like it was just pulled off the bone.

you think.. thats a pic 1 1/2 years later!

I just took that a few weeks ago...

doesnt hurt no more.. I made a post on it... you may wanna check it out.

yeah I saw it..When you tear something it tends to roll up into a ball. What it looks like has happened to you is that you separated that tendon from the bone and it never went back. Whenever you have a tare there will be blood in the area. but enough about that..:)

well when it first happend my pec was bunch in the milddle of my chest and tunred black a few days later... just bi bicepy was bruised though...

Am I fixable?
