I'm kind of a dungeon guy myself, lol. That being said, my lifting partner and I belong to probably the biggest, nicest gym in town, it's super busy all the time. The good part is that about 75% of the people there are pretty serious, hardcore.
The first gym I joined here, many moons ago (well, after the YMCA), was a gym in the basement of a bar, owned by a bunch of former college football players. No heat, no air conditioning, keypad entry. Just a moldy basement with weights, a couple of benches, and some squat racks. Smelled of stale beer and sweat all the time. I was just a skinny little guy back then but I grew up fast at that place.
