I had a Gateway 19" CRT, which I thought was a sweet monitor, but getting old. It had been started to make a lot of crackly noises and would sometimes lose the pic completely.
I just got a new 19-inch Amptron CMV-934D / DVI / 8ms / 1280 x 1024 / 500:1 Contrast / 0.294 pixel pitch / 320 cd/m2 brightness and 500:1 contrast. I figured (hoping, actually) that the picture would be "as good" as the Gateway.
I made sure to put a DVI card in when I built my computer. This monitor has a far superior display than the CRT - HANDS DOWN. And IT's VERY BRIGHT (I was afraid it wasn't going to be bright enough). I had to turn down the brightness to 50%!
My timing couldn't have been better. When I went to check my e-mail and the board this morning, my CRT monitor wasn't working. I worked a good half hour trying everything I knew to get it going - and it just died. When I got home from work today, my new monitor was waiting on my doorstep for me
