When will the music industry stop allowing half assed bands like Green Day to keep recycling the same song over and over, and calling them geniuses? Sorry, thought everyone needed something to lighten the mood.

or winning grammys for rap! stealing a riff and talking over it sounding like they have a mouth full of marbles, such talent.with such meaningful lyrics about hoes, makin money pimpin, bitches etc..
at least green day took the time to learn to play instruments and can write a melody.

Which particular song is Greenday recycling?

(Aren't 90% of all modern musical groups guily of pimping their wares?)

Agreed!

I'm not a big fan of rap music (crap music?), but there are some classic rap tunes I like. Funky Cold Medina etc...

From what I see, all major genres of music have produced bands that rehash their hits with only minor changes, then recycle them as new tunes. Sad, but true...

For me, NickleBack has long grown tiresome........it all sounds the same. I guess there's a difference between having a unique sound and tired repetitive overkill. Boston has a distictive sound and I never get tired of listening to them even years after they stopped recording.

At the end of the day rap music sells and that is what we give out the awards and the $ for. I mean people phrase it as if rap is dumbing down music and maybe that is the case, but that has been the trend for a while now.

I would hazard a guess that the Beatles have sold more albums then Yo-Yo Ma. However, who do we say is the most musically talented?

I'm sorry but Green Day is being forced down your throat in the same way that Hannah Montana and Jonas Brothers are forced down tweeners throats. I agree with the Nickelback comparison. Very tiresome. I thought Green Day was okay when they first came out, but now every song sounds the same, and they get a huge push when they come out with a "new" album.

I apologize if I offend fans of the band themselves but I suppose you could say the same of AC/DC. Every time you bought an AC/DC album you pretty much knew what you were getting.

a lot of bands are like that in which everything tends to sound the same.Due to lead singers voice, same guitar tuning and chords every song etc.. Some bands even when playing covers from other bands still have the same sound.i get your point and agree with you.

thats why i loved THE CULT.. all songs were different.. nickleback sounds the same every single song.. as do most of the bands nowadays.. liked collective soul.. but green day is overrated in my humble opinion..

Did you see when Ian Ashbury(butchered) from the Cult was fronting the Doors awhile back? some songs he sounded just like and even better than Jim Morrison. Before that scott stapp from creed was sitting in and he was actually pretty good too.

Ian was badass! The Cult was so different when they came out. It took a lot of balls to do what they did at that time in the music biz.

I think "injustice" may be a bit too strong of a word. ;) I was expecting to read a thread about Darfur or something similar. lol.

I, personally, would avoid making blanket generalizations about any particular style of music. All rap isn't rediculous, although there is a lot that is. One could wonder how someone screaming is beautiful music as well, whether we are talking axel rose screams, or Demon Hunter. Alot of rappers, rockers, jazz singers, blues guys, etc. are beautiful poets.

It'll stop when people stop buying this garbage, why change if people keep buying tickets to concerts and cd's ?? Almost everyband i can think of (even the ones i like) do this all the time and as long as they make money most of them don't care how they make it.

Music has definitely been on the decline since the 90s. I sometimes think lack of video killed the talent star, since music coincidentally started to go downhill around the same time MTV changed it programming and did away almost completely with the music video. Just a theory of mine. Some might say that music started going downhill after the early 70s. In my opinion good music hit a chink in the late 70s to the end of the 80s (with exceptions of course), and then picked up again in the 90s. I'm hoping that this decade is just another chink, a premature one at that, on the wavelength of time progression relative to good and bad music.

first off, im a 90's rock guy. not much a fan of rap but its just ridiculous when people make generalizations like rap is crap or that bc rappers dont play instruments they arent talented.

there are good musucians and shitty ones in every genre, period.

when nirvana came out and took over for a few years there were hundreds of successful copycats that followed bc it isnt that difficult to pick up a guitar, learn some power chords, write some poetic abstract lyrics, and distort the hell out of it.

when eminen dominated for a peroid there where hardly any successful copycats, many attempts, but few found success. lets hear you naysayers rap like him.
