OT: Results from Judgement on my Birthday Speeding Episode

I waited until the last minute . I wrote a very extensive letter to the judge, basically stating my case and how I feel that I was not breaking the intent of the law (used some my "work" interpretations in making my point - I basically interpret the law in my work).

I got back a Case Update sheet in the mail. There were 2 columns for the fine - one was Fine and other was AA (?!?!). They had two charges listed. One was for "Speeding" (1 point) and the other "Tail Lamps" (hahahahaha). Next to Speeding it has "Amended." Next to "Tail Lamps" it had "Plead Guilty." There were only dollar amounts (that matched the fine I mailed in) in the 2 columns next to Tail Lamps!!!

There was a hand written note at the end that said "Charge amended to non-moving, zero point violation!"

It's kinda funny because I was going to tell them in my letter that they could keep the fine/money even if I was found innocent. I didn't because I'm sure it'd be construed as a "bribe." I'd rather pay them $82 than my insurance company a WHOLE LOT MORE for the next several years.

Thats good to hear xcel....I got a ticket going 104 in a 55 and they DA reduced it to a traffic violation.....I wore a tire and everything and the other DA that was there was like just give him a break he wore a tie for god sake! I was happy to say the lease!

I got 178mph in a 45mph zone with evading arrest at 17. Thanks to a good lawyer I only got $350 in fines and 1 year license restriction. But the ass kicking from my dad was part of the punishment, and I lost my baby(94 twin turbo supra)

You made out pretty good! I never quite got my Celica GT past 140. But I hovered around there several times. I was lucky enough just to get pulled over for doing 80 in it and no ticket. You'd have thought I'd slow down, but kept it up. I can't imagine how much crazier I'd have got with a Supra at 17!

Fancy work there, Excel! It's nice when judges actually interpret the law as it's written.
