my wife is one of the biggest animal lovers i have ever met. she was raised on a farm and u name it she had it lol. she volunteers at the local shelter as well. she looks at animals like people. we have been married for 3 years now and during this time we have had 4 cats. the 1st one she had from a kitten and he died from old age. since then we have adopted 3 kittens from pound. now before you start thinking we dont take care of our animals let me explain. they usually eat better than i do, are loved on more than i am(i know, poor me. lol), and get regular check ups with the vet. she sleeps in the bed in my wifes side every night. the 1st two kittens we adopted both ran off. we keep them inside but do allow them outside as well. now the latest one has done the same! my wife is devastated. she has cried for 3 days. shes driven around our neighborhood endless times, put up posters etc. we have checked and they havent been pu by the pound either. it has been about a week now so i dont think shes coming home. i know how much my wife loves her cats but im debating on trying again. what are your thoughts? should i get her another or just focus on our 2 dogs(english bulldog and chinease crested)?

Cats & Dogs

I have 3 dogs, 2 cats, 5 turtles, 1 water snake, 2 bass, 2 lizards and a big fat toad. And a pond in the back yard. And a 9 year old daughter and 6 year old son

I love animals. My wife loves me. I would certainly get another cat if I were you (what a surprise I would give that advice). I know you have heard this before, but bad things (many many different bad things) happen to cats allowed outside. You'd have a lot less heartache if you keep them inside 100%

thx coach. i agree about keeping them inside. she just thinks its bad to keep an animal locked up all the time. im gonna let a little time pass for her to get over this and suprise her with a persian which she has always wanted.

I think that would be an awesome surprise, she will be happy and love it to death.

We have a potbelly pig and we love her so much. We would be devastated if something was to happen to her or she ran off. We have got all her shots and are going to get her spayed and registered as a pet potbelly pig. We are giving her part of our new backyard for her own play area. She is awesome with the kids too, and very smart.

I think she'd like another cat. Maybe this time, closely supervise them when they are let out, or put them on a leash. Sort of protects your financial and emotional investment in them

We lost our second cat because my girlfriend's parents went out the door and didn't notice a big fluffy white cat run out at the same time. Later that night they heard it meowing outside, but didn't get up to even think about letting it in. So it ran off.

We're still paying vet bills off on that cat from over two years ago.....talk about being pissed off at both my girlfriend and her parents. When we go home to visit, our oldest cat stays with me and my family. He's yet to run off, because my family actually pays attention to our cats. When they do let him out, they watch him to make sure he doesn't run off.

im not sure how persians are but we have siamese and she hates even thinking about heading outside.. she gets to the door sticks her nose out and then runs the other way.. i understand where you wife is coming from about leaving them locked up but if you get a breed that's not an outside cat you might be better off, good luck tho bro.
