My wife is getting one soon, and we had a ?. Do you have to have your head shaved for this?

No shes does not. Fairly simple procedure actually.

Not at all. I get one every 3 -4 months.

no head shaving, you just lay there motionless for 20-30 minutes while the machine does its imaging magic.

Thanks guys. She's having this b/c her thyroid has been fuckd up all her life. She was prescribed 150mcg synthroid and the past two bloodtests showed her TSH has been on the low end. The dr. said its very rare to be on the low end at such a young age, so he's having her get a MRI on the pituitary(she already had a thyroid mri and was fine). He bumped her dose down to 112mcg as well.

nope--coming from an mri technologist. just tell her to stay still and be patient. our scan can take anywhere from 12-25 min at our hospital. peace GL
