Plate loaded machines vs peg

Is resistance just resistance or does anyone think plate loaded machines are superior? I found a cheaper gym close to home but noticed most machines have just stacked plates where you move the peg. Was disappointing I tried them out and didn't really feel the exercise as much but probably is all in my head

Certain machines from some brands i think are really good. Plate loaded on the whole are better then most stackable machines. But there will be a wide latitude of what some will like.
