My GF is doing the atkins diet and all you have to do is log ur net carbs...and my friend is doing weight-watchers where u just calc. the points. Well for my diet I have to take each thing and calculate carbs, fat, protein, kcals, etc. so why doesn't someone make up a diet like weight-watchers or something where each food is a certain number of points and the foods are "bodybuilding foods"??? I know that logging all of that stuff in my food record for the day sucks!!!

My thoughts on that, weight watchers, atkins, fad diets in general are for lazy people who dont intend on keeping in shape. A real dedicated bodybuilder or fitness buff in general would take the time to cook real food to meet his/her individual needs, plan the meals, weigh them out, log your food intake as well as your training so you know what works for you. The bodybuilder is trying to gain lean mass while cutting body fat. The fad dieters are just trying to lose weight in general the easy way.

It takes about 5 minutes out of my day to input my food. Man that sucks!!! I could have been microwaving a weight watcher frozen shit meal.

Mainly because body building is not an exact amount of anything. We are constantly adjusting food to suit our time frames and level of conditioning at any point in time. WW, atkins fad diets do not break down the macro nutrients of food the way we do, that is why you can't put points to number of grams of protein, number of grams of fat, carbs etc......!

I have explored (in my mind anyway) a "point system" for monitoring my lifestyle choices. I don't do everything right everyday, but I was exploring a point system such as

1 point for eating my rough cutt oatmeal and other fiber
3 points for lifting weights
3 points for cardio
5 points for eight hours sleep
3 points for taking my supplements
5 ponts for nailing the girlfriend
3 points for complementing or helping someone with there day
5 points for calling my mother
-3 points for more than 1 glass of wine

etc, assign a point value to these things that are good for me and a negative point system for things bad and set a daily average I want to achieve. Just another way to remind myself to do the right things. Certainly would need more input to make this work, but I have found myself considering it a number of times.

"5 points for calling my mother" LOL THat is a good one. Does that mean 5 points for each time you call her in one day? What if she calls you? Do you get points for that?;)

hahaha you guys are great.. and thanks for the input

Old Fella:

I was starting the ball rolling with the things that I should do and that make me feel better and calling her is both! I am very lucky at my age to be able to have a mother I can talk to. She is precious to me beyond words. I am lucky to have lived long enough for my appreciation and understanding to grow.

Now four or five times a day? At some point we do have to start subtracting no matter how big a turd I was as a kid!
