prolotherapy at home?

Anyone ever tried their own prolotherapy?

From what i read....it is $400 min per treatment and I cant afford it (shoulder labrum tear).

Im wondering if injecting your own blood into the injured area would be safe and give any healing benefit? You wouldnt have the benefit of seperating the blood and plasma, but wouldnt the whole blood have some benefits?

Also has anyone ever done prolotherapy and how much did it cost? Insurance cover any of it?

nto sure about using your own blood, but i have had prolotherapy done on both of my shoulders. the results were phenomenal. i have had terrible pain in my left shoulder after several a/c joint separations for years. about 9 months ago i started undergoing prolo every 3-4 weeks for a series of 5 or 6 treatments. i gotta say my shoulder has not felt this good in years. not sure of the cost my insurance covered it. i will say it's worth the 6/7/8 injectios into the joint each time. but not sure i'd be able to do it if my insurance had not covered it.

no I would not try PRP at home-as lots of risks for infection drawing your own blood and then injecting it. PRP is acutally whole blood spun down.

There are other types of prolotherapy-saline injections, saline injections with dextrose and saline dextrose GH injections.
The technique is a skilled one and a lot of injections are required, so infection could be a problem in a home environment.
