I hear one of the side affects of proviron is it will keep you a hard on. I'm using it now with clomid and that seems to be the case.

Is this true? It's like i'm on viagra.

I think that is true seeing as how it is an androgen. I was told it was good to use during cycle to enhance receptor sensitivity. I could'nt tell about that but it really does bump the libido WAY up.

It probably does not shut you down as bad as some AAS because no aromatazation. The fact its a 100% androgen has nothing to do with effect on HPTA. In fact many say its an antiestrogen, but Ive never seen nor heard the particular method that can cause an antoestro effect in Proviron.

Its been said that mesterolone has a higher affinity for the aromatase enzyme than testosterone. So essentially, it occupies the aromatase enzyme which in turn is then unable to be occupied by T, thus less estrogen. So by this theory mesterolone acts much like a suicide inhibitor. Although unlike the steroidal AI exemestane, I have never seen any indication that mesterolone binds irreversibly. Exemestane is actually processed to an intermediate which irreversibly binds to the active site of the aromatase enzyme. It has also been suggested that mesterolone actually causes estrogen receptor downgrade. Those are the current trends in thought for the explanation of mesterolone's anti-estrogenic effects.

It doesn't enhance AR sensitivity. AR sensitivity is a moot point in the first place, but that's another subject. The effect you are talking about is due to the fact that just as mesterolone has a higher affinity for the aromatase enzyme than T, it also has a higher affinity for sex hormone binding proteins than T. Thus causing an increase in free testosterone. This is why many recommend the inclusion of a DHT compound 3 or 4 weeks into a "cycle." Given that sex hormone binding proteins are the single largest contributor to attenuation, any mechanism by which this effect can be regulated will result in increased efficacy.

Do you think it will make a difference knowing that testosterone already lowers SHBG in a dose dependent manner? Many seem to think that steroids in general increase SHBG when the opposite is true.
