The short story: 49, training many years, ripped left quad leg pressing 2 weeks ago. Definate rip. Mid quad. No black and blue. Able to do modest resistance 30-40 mins on elliptical. Some discomfort. Also a bit tight snd some pain after back training. Any guesstimates whe I should/could start trying to build it back up?

damn never had that injury so dont really know man..sorry to hear that happened im sure there are some other things you can do though

I've done that three times unfortunately, with what sounds like the same severity. The third time I megadosed vitamin C, glutamine, and trained the other leg alone. All of this seemed to speed up recovery comparatively, as I was back doing light squats after about three months. I feel your pain man, be smart with it.
 
i had a similar injury. i found that ultrasound and deep tissue work really speed things up. i was back to going through the motions in a weak and then slowly building back up. the deep tissue is painfull but it breaks up adhesions and prevents scar tissue from forming. best of luck in your recovery
