Question about Hernia

I am currently preparing for the Florida Gold Cup on Nov 13th and then also planned on competing in Southern States in Fort Lauderdale next July.

So naturally I was pretty devastated when I discovered my hernia two weeks into my contest prep for the Florida Gold Cup. I did see the doctor right away and was prepared he would tell me you immediately need surgery and you are not competing. But to my surprise he told me I could take my time and even do the surgery late summer 2010 after Southern States.

I am lucky that the "potrusion" is just above my groin so that even with the pretty skimpy posing trunks we where it will not show. However I have found that I cannot squat the way I like to squat with this hernia.

As such I will get the surgery in early December after I have competed at the Florida Gold Gup and then take a month off from training and go balls-to-the-wall starting January 1st for Southern States

If you can get this done right after your show it will allow you a better recovery time. You will find that "balls to walls" will not be possible for some weeks following or it may be a case of "Balls on the floor"!! You will want to take it easy and ease into your training or it will all be for nothing.
