Let me share just three very quick and relatively easy tips to really give you better photo's. It will make a drastic change in how much definition shows up.
1) If you have good lighting, or even decent lighting, DON'T USE A FLASH. Using a flash tends to "whiten out" or "flatten" alot of pictures of people. All the "character" of the persons face, or object disappears.
2) DON'T USE "auto white balance". Most digital camera's now have the option of choosing which kind of lighting you are in: florescent, candescent, sunny, shady, etc. Choose the proper lighting. This will adjust how much of the shutter opens and allowance for light. Again, more character is the result.
3) CHANGE YOUR ISO SPEED. Most digital camera's have the option to change the "ISO" speed, or shutter speed. The range vary's greatly depending on the camera, some only go up to 400, other's 1600. If you have good lighting, increase the shutter speed to at least 400. If you have the option, go to 800.
Try a few photo's playing around with these and tell everyone how it works for you.
