I've heard conflicting info on whether steel cut oats digest the same when uncooked. I feel like I get more of a pump in the gym having normal oats raw and none when it's steel cut.

What say you?

how you fuck do you eat RAW steel-cut ?????

its like gravel to me....no???

I'm assuming with the raw steel cut...they haven't
even had enough time to become soft enough to open
up to digest is why you feel no pump....

i do however like my oats to have some texture to it
and not just mush.....

you try soaking over night...???
they open up pretty well...

No clue but why not just stick with normal oats?

And I'm with tenny, how the f are you eatin steel cut raw, unless soaking in water or milk.

How about trying sprouted oats? Rude Health are a brand that do them. Sprouted and rolled, that's it. Lots of flavour too!

I bought raw steel cut oats one time not realizing there was a difference, threw them on a shake once and couldn't even finish it, just as tranny said it was like gravel, they're probably digesting a lot slower than the regular oats why not just stick to those?

He is Notuman Coleman. He can eat, chew, drink anything.

Steel cut oats ALWAYS without a doubt give me some of the worst gas and indigestion and even the shits  I dont even want to think about what would happen to me if I ate them raw:eek:

Cream of rice is my go to morning meal.

Put it in a protein shake and blend them? Come on boys, this isn't rocket science

Again, why not stick with rolled oats, especially if just throwing in a shaker and blending.

I can't do any oats. Ezekiel bread is my "oats"

steel cut takes longer to digest so if you having it as a pre-workout meal i can see you not digesting them as quick compare to rolled oats ( hence the pump on rolled oats vs steel cut)

IF you dieting and want to stay fuller for longer and dont mind the taste go for steel cut.

pre- workout meal ? and u want oats have normal rolled oats.

steel cut - i dont like them. Traditional rolled oats ( not quick oats ) does the job just fine.

I don't know man! that's why I made this thread!

The reason I got the steel cut is because they are healthier. I would choose convenience over health, however, so if the regular oats digest better raw than steel cut, then I'm going back to the normal oats.

What makes you think they're healthier? Slower digesting so maybe less of an insulin spike....but the only difference between them and rolled oats is the way they're cut

What goofy stuff are you reading in regards to steel being healthier than rolled?

So its like eating gravel in a blender....

Still gravel....

Soak em first...then blend em.

I guess since we are on the topic, what oats do you guys get? I've always done the instant oats and either microwave with water or drink raw.
