Just wanted to introduce myself (I've been lurking here for quite a while) and express my thanks for the good info that I gotten from the members of this board. I had competed in many shows during the mid to late 80s then got involved in career/family obligations but never gave up on training. My wife recently encouraged me to give it a try again. Here are a few shots from the show last weekend. My conditioning was a little dissapointing but I have another show in 3 weeks so I hope to come in a little sharper then. My goal for the next year is to bring up the wheels to improve my symmetry. I welcome comments (especially negative ones) because I never want to stop improving.

Thanks guys

moj0

Looking pretty darn good! What are your stats?

Lynx, thx I appreciate it. I'm 5'11 and I weighed in at 205 for this show. I usually weigh around 245 off season (too fat). LOL. I'll try to stay leaner this year.

you look pretty tall, if so good looking legs. you look pretty thick through the chest, shoulders, arms too. post some pics from your next show too!

Very classic lines. You flow very well. I little more size and the bring up the wheels. No joke, you look very well and should continue to pursue if it makes sense. You would have stomped the comp. in the Masters GA this past weekend. Keep it up, for real!

Lookin good bro. How old are you??

your brother in Christ,

Lucky

Flexmaster....thanks bro I'll definitely post some pics from the next show which is on July 30. Hopefully I can come in harder and show a little improvement.

Pumpputnam...thx for the encouragement and the advice. BB has been a lifestyle for me for most of my life and I would like to continue on as long as it remains fun.

Luckyone...thank you ...I'm 45. I began training (with little or no knowldge) at 14 and have only skipped maybe 6 or 7 years total during the last 30 years. I learned a lot during the 80s training with a guy named Jimmy Demelo (some on this board may remember him) He was a big inspiration to me but my knowledge over the years became dated. I really got lucky to happen upon this board where BBers with cutting edge knowledge share freely. I'm hungry to learn and hopefully I can contribute some as well.

mojo

You look EXCELLENT my friend! Like stated before, you have very good flowing lines. Since your waist "appears" to look thick, then I would suggest to work on the width of your shoulders/lats and try to get a better oouter quad sweep. I have had the same problem since I'm a tall competitor also.
Keep up the good work and keep on improving!

Jim

Jim d ...what ever happened to him..he was kinda like Jim Quinn, thats all you heard about then they were gone.

Queefer, thx bro I'll keep pushin' it...appreciate the encouragement.

mike man, yeah I'm try to improve on my X factor. My upper body grows easily but I've got knee problems that haunt me so my goal for the coming year is to avoid knee pain so I can train the muscle and not constantly have to focus on guarding my knees. Just one of those old man things LOL . thx for the critique.

huge-inc, Jimmy moved to Venice and got caught up in all that attention and it broke up his marriage. That hit him pretty hard and he turned to religion, went natural and he got involved in some christian strong man show (power team or something like that). I kinda lost touch with him after that but a friend of mine told me that he heard that Jimmy was in a near fatal car accident about two years ago and the docs said that the years of physical conditioning probably saved his life. He's a cool guy...I wish him the best wherever he is.

you look REALLY man,

I'd work on the legs a bit cause your torso has a lot of volume compared to it

very very good job mate

Mojo, I'm 41 and let's just say you're a great inspiration. Like you I've been around this board for a while wondering if it were possible to ever get as big as these guys... unlike you, I've been at it for 2.5 year. Made some great progress, but it's never enough. And that's the way it should be.

Bro

You look really great - wonderful proportion, with those classic 80's lines.Much respect for what you are doing, as I am the same age with a similar history.Legs cost me the last show I competed in a year ago, PLatz type quads seem to be the norm these days.Always something to improve on isn't there!!! Congrats bro, and best wishes.

there is a interview with jim quin a few months back in musclemag internation.. he is apersonal trainer with his fiance' on the east coast somewhere.. he was very candid about his life.. seemed pretty cool.. he told of his cycles and what they entailed and how his hips are shot from trying to go to heavy all the time ect ect.. you might be able to find it.. never mentioned anything about his religion but, his fiance is into asian spirtuality.. he sounds like he is also from the interview..

mike1107, thx bro...yeah wheels need work.

Swellin, good to hear from a fellow "master" thx for the kind words and you're right it really is the journey and not the destination that I enjoy. I won't ever achieve and end state. Keep rollin' with it and best wishes to you.

bigbrian58, thx man, yeah I've made some improvements in the legs but my wrecked knees make doing what I need to do very tough. I find that I spend most of my time trying to avoid pain and can't focus as much on the muscle as I need to. Oh well...at least I can still train 'em I shouldn't complain. I'll be pushing hard on the wheels this year and we'll see what happens. Best of luck to you as well.

LATS, That's cool it's good to see that that he is still able to make a living in the fitness world. Actually though, I was talking about Jimmy Demelo... huge-inc was comparing him to Jim Quinn (they both kinda just vansihed from the scene suddenly).

Mojo,

Hell ,you look as big as Art Atwood! Do not compete in the Emerald Cup next year! Please! :D

great physique , everything seems to be balanced out extremely well , you have more of a classic physique which is hard to find , most dudes nowadays are blocky and short with half ass flowing lines and arent very eye pleasing , id say youve done extremely well and if i were you id go on as far as possible , great job bro.

fearnofish, LOL I'm not E cup material. That's one seriously competitive show....lots of big bros. I was in Redmond on business this past june and trained at the Gold's where Mark Dugdale trains....some of those guys made me feel puny LOL. Maybe the lack of sunshine makes 'em grow bigger :D

Vander, I really appreciate that bro. I have much respect for your opinion and what you've accomplished. Best of luck in the coming year....looks to be a big one for you.
