Safety stops for Smith machine??

Well, I found a really good deal on an old school commercial quality Smith machine for my home gym....so I snatched it up.

The only issue I am having is that it has no safety stops attached.
I have never used the safety stops myself, but I would like to have them available as I am going to start training clients here as well once I get it finished.

Anyone have any idea where to find something like this or has someone ever made their own and have any tips??

ive seen homemade ones...you should be able to look at the way it works and be able to whip something up pretty easily that can hang on the hooks and stop the bar at each hook level...a lot of different styles out there so you will need to kind of engineer it yourself if you cant find something already made

I figured that was the easiest way, too bad I am not much of a "builder" especially when it comes to metals. I will have to draw something up and get someone to weld it up for me.

The only thing I was really worried about with making my own, is that they normally float pretty freely on the guide bars which need to be smooth. I don't know if I could put a metal bracket on there and make it so it doesn't nick up the guide bars. I think the commercial ones use some type of ball bearings or the like inside of them so they move freely up and down the bar to set on the different pins....
