Boy am I having some major pain. Last tuesday I woke up and noticed my back all knotted up. As the day went on it got worse. The thing is I don't remember anything that may have casued this. I get knots from time to time but this was different. I use proper form so there was nothing I remember doing. I did not even workout at all that past weekend or that monday. Anyhow the pain was bad by wedenesday, all across my lower back. It was like this until friday when the pain shifted to one side, my left side. I could not even f**k'n walk. So it looks like I have a pinched nerve. This f**k'n pain goes from my ass down to my calf. Sitting is not bad neither is laying down in certain positions but as for walking forget about it. I get so far and the pain is like crippling. I have been going to the chiropractor since saturday and now I have to meet with my primary to schedule an mri. WTF!!! Thanks for letting me vent and please share anything on how I may be able to get back on my feet again. PAX.

Are you on right now? I know tren a will give me major back pumps that will almost cripple me if I run it too long and anadrol will do the same in my neck.

No right now I'm off. I've been off for a couple of weeks so I know this is not the case. Those knots I can handle and are completely different. No this is most definately without a doubt a slipped disc. At least I can now sleep a little. The worst was at night for a while. The inflamation was bad at nite. The only thing I am on is this shitty ass prednisone

Dammit man, ok I got the pain your talking about now. The chiropractor may be able to get you some relief with the realignments and the tenns treatments. He may even want to do acupuncture, it makes a world of difference in the relief. Good luck and hope it gets better for ya.

Sounds like a herniated disk in your lower back. There are cusions between your verterbra that r filled with fluid. When too much uneven pressure over a period of time, this causes the herniation. Think of a half inflated balloon. If u put equal pressure on both sides of the ballon it will spread evenly. Tilt one hand over a couple degrees and the ballon will shift it's volume over and have the ballon/fluid sack make a bubble(path of least resistance). The herniation(bubble/bulge) applies pressure to ur nerves that run down your spine. And this can cause pain, numbness/tingles, and muscles spasms. If I were u I would go to ur general Dr and he will prolly give u pain killers and muscle relaxers. This happened to me too 2 months ago. Then went to physical therapy. The good news is that 60% of people with back pain r pain free within 3 wks. Hope this helps and is accurate cause thus it what happened to me.

I had some pretty severe sciatica after injuring my lower back doing deadlifts. I was almost crippled with the nerve pain for a good 6 months. It has been almost 12 months now since my injury and the sciatic nerve pain is 95% gone. I am also back deadlifting again and stronger than ever :)

I did go to a chiro for some adjustments and electric shock therapy; plus I had several deep tissue massages sessions. Those seemed to really help alot. The only meds I took were Advil when the pain was really bad. I hope you get pain free soon.

You think he should take drugs to mask the pain?.. Then strengthen the muscles, to do what? Compress this disc that you say is (in your opinion) herniated.
He's going to a doctor and a chiropractor already. What's wrong with his methods?

Get some soft tissue work done (ART) google it if you don't know what it is.

Buy a stiff foam roller, elite sells them, best 20 bucks I have ever spent regarding training. Roll out your back, erectors, glutes, hamstrings, it band, etc. Do it multiple times per day

Find a gym that has a reverse hyper and start out with very low weight and a small swing.

My PT still has me doing what he calls "pressups". Basically, you lie on your stomach with legs flat out in a pushup position. Then just do a pushup but keep your hips as close to the ground as possible. Do this for a set of 10 every 2 hours. May/may not work for you, has worked great for me.

Keep good posture. This has also really helped, keep you chest UP. Takes alot of strain off you lower back when you do this. Good luck, back pain sucks ass.

I am currently being treated for 2 herniations, and my pain is similar to yours except i have pain in both legs, i am going for an epidural injection. If 3 of these dont relieve the pain they are talking surgery. I was in an accident that caused this though. I have had some relief with massage and stim.

I've got a similar situation and sleep every night with a heating pad under the lower part of my back and is making a world of difference!

Thanks a lot guys for all the feedback. It is nice to know I am not alone and you guys care to share this stuff with me. The painkillers don't work for me except make my fu**n head dizzy. I can sit and lay down and pretty much be alright and I can walk to the bath room when I have to. The thing is when I stand the nerve gets inflamed and wala it is like some one is stabing my fu**n ass. There are also times when sitting or laying that get uncomfortable. What sucked worse was trying to run little league practice. I can not walk the f**kn field. I have to let my assists run the practice. I am just prety much stressn now and need a relase. This will pass but it is not happening soon enough. You guys are the best. Thanks again.

Something that really helps me with pain like this and easily,,readily available is ALEVE (naproxen). Try that for a few dose at the MAX suggested dosage.

Try to alternate icing and heating for 20-30 min of each. Heating will make it feel better, but icing will allow for bloodflow and increased healing rate.

I am dealing with Sciatica too

I've been having issues with it for several months now. I've been to the doctor several times and he gave me some muscle relaxers and some stuff for the inflammation. My pain is 98% gone, but I've been walking with a limp, so now my trainer is setting me up with a physical therapist.

I've done everything I could to help heal. I even gave up playing ice hockey.

Good luck bro. with the PT. Wish I was at the pain being gone point. This f**kn bl**s.

I can only agree with what has been posted before: Start foam rolling to release your myofascia. You can just get a PVC pipe at home depot which will hurt like hell in the beginning but eventually give you a very nice feeling as the myofascia will repair/relax.

Also, are you 100% sure that you have sciatica? It might just be an overly active piriformis muscle. You can easily find out if you lay down on your back and do this stretch: Lying Piriformis Stretch - How to Stretch the Piriformis Muscle and Open the Hips

Or you can do it seated as well: **broken link removed**

I would suggest to do the lying version as I personally feel more effects with it.

Alternate between foam rolling and stretching back and forth.
