small tear in chest.....

felt a small tear in chest tonight...just outside the nipple in middle of muscle...not bad enough where black and blue came right out but def tear...had to stop workout couldnt even do shoulders. how long you think i should lay off it before slowly working it out light....ive had a full tendon rupture on the other side back in the day which crippled me for months after surgery but this is def not tendon and just little tear in middle...what do you think!? thanks bros!!
 
Tough call on when you should train it...your body will let you know. I had a slight tear on my left pec from doing declines about an month ago...and had to stop everything and leave the workout. On my following workouts I was able to train legs and arms and some back...and started back on chest about a week or so later with doing only dips. No pain whatsoever. However, I just went back to regular declines yesterday and it was fine...just be careful and don't rush, unless you want to make it worse.

Again, look for ways to work around it...and if you feel anything just stop.

Just my $0.02 and it might not be worth that much. :p

here is my thought for upcoming workouts, as im in middle of something and dont wanna lay totally off!!!! happened tonight, tomorrow off...friday legs....saturday pull movements....and sunday or monday i hope to be able to get some shoulders and tris in ... keep slowly streching and nursing the chest and feeling how it feels during stretches before any excercises...maybe a week and half or so before any weight on it?

Others may offer you better advice than what I'm sharing, as mine is from personal experience. That said, you're pretty much are doing what I did with a little stretching to see how it felt...make damn sure you're good and warmed up!
 
flexibility in the chest i think is what did me in!! i have horrible range of motion in pecs and i knew this was coming.....should have cut it off and been more proactive about resolving it....lessen learned...you hear almost daily about the importance of strectching for flexibilty, growth, and injury prevention and sucks it takes this to really get it through my thick skull!!!
 
If it's a partial muscle or fascia tear then it won't take to long to heal up. I've torn both sides of my pecs numerous time both tendon, muscle and fascia. I had to take a week off from chest and came back the following week and slowly started doing chest but going light. You should also ice it down and take a NSAID to reduce inflammation. Good luck with your injury.
 
did exactly the same thing showing off flat benching.. ended the workout immediately, iced for days, no bruising. following week I did only dumbell work, lighter and really high reps, like 18-20. week after heavier dumbells with still higher rep 12-15. third week after hurting it I did heavy incline barbell, only after a TON of stretching and stretched between every set. Only minimal soreness but NO pain.

thanks guys...i will take the advice...waiting a week and coming back light with smooth high reps, probably just incline at first. even after rupture i had incline kept my chest in shape and no problems with it....thanks again all!
