South Beach vs. Endocrinologist..!!!

Well I went to an endo Dr yesterday and I must say it didnt go well at all...

Got on the scale 246 5'9" and somewhere in the low teens in BF....

He sized me up even though I wore loose clothing he knew...

Well I make this short...I went to him because I had a referral from my primary care Dr....I was diagnosed with hypogonadism and my blood work in hand my free test level was 4.2....4.2

He told me that i was a very dangerous man and that he was afraid of me...He asked me if i was to treat the condition that i had to promise him i wouldnt boost...I couldn't..

He then asked me if i saw anything wrong with using illicit drugs...I said no...

he then said its a felony and its a class 4 substance and where did i get my gear...I told him none of your business...Now he compares me to a junkie who's always looking for his next fix...and then the alchoholic who has 1 drink a day sooner or later he'll go back to drinking heavy again..

Then he starts with the cancer shit...its causes prostate cancer and this cancer..by now I didnt want to listen to 1 word that came out of his mouth...I then said rather loudly that these people were already pre-disposed to it...he kind of lookes at me goofy and said yea your right.....

He said he'll treat my diabetes but I would have to clean out for a full year and then come back and start fresh....I said Dr...my free test level is 4.2 what else do you need to see....So that means I'll be close to 49 then and i have to go1 year with no sex drive,joint pains,hair loss,mood swings and all the other shit that goes with hypogonadism....IO said no thanks i'll do it my dam self so that way there your not liable....He also said he wouldn't do any monitoring at all and basically wanted nothing to do with me....

I guess I'll try south Beach...Just to shut my wife up...off too get blood work done this morning...Ive fasted for 12 hours and no coffee...

See a different Endo. You're a grown man, you don't need a lecture outside of his area of specialization--on the law.

When an MD does that to you, simply ask a question, "Are you going to help me or not?" That is his job. He wanted you to be clean, but that does not help you NOW and I would have pointed that out....and walked.

I have had very positive experiences with some MDs. They have concern, rightly so. But their job is to heal you without an agenda.

Next time you go to doctor, test the water first before you have labs done, exams, etc. Don't be shy and tell the doctor that need to be comfortable with him/her just as I'm sure they would need to be with their own physician. Then ask that you speak candidly off-the record (nothing written down by them) and that if you are both comfortable subsequent to the discussion that you would be happy to have a them act as your doctor.

Then be honest. Tell them what you've been doing. If the doc shits a brick, looks disgusted, starts to lecture you, etc... just say "ok, I appreciate your time but this isn't going to work, thank you." It might take a few docs to find the one that is open minded enough not to judge but rather to be physician. You're a man - you know what you're doing, right or wrong, you have sovereignty over your body.

I go to a very liberal doctor who is very open and candid about stuff, for instance, he went to costa rica recently and I asked him about it and he pretty much said he was on the beach smoking pot the whole time, cool doc.

Why didn't you tell him you were off for a year already, you were quitting and wanted his help getting back to normal. Who cares, tell the next one that. The problem with most people nowadays is they all think they know more than everybody else. Most don't know to keep their mouths shut.

Most Dr's are very ignorant when it comes to steroids, My wife is in the medical field and I have had the opportunity to speak with quite a few on the subject, and have found that 9 out of 10 now very little! one prominent neurologist didn't even know Test was a steroid (not joking) he was treating patients with neuroulardistrophy with testosterone,and I ask why he wouldn't try a different drug like Deca durabolin and his response was it's an anabolic steroid.
Now there have been two Dr's I have talked to that knew allot, one was treating AID's patents, and the other was an endocrinologist, who just happened to lift while in college, both were very smart men! the rest think that if you use them for no other reason than bodybuilding you'll die!

The worst part is that they know even less about nutrition, and people take what doctors say as Gospel it's ridicules!

The funny thing is insurance.....I have to do things according to there rules....and my temper....i gotta be real carefull there....im stilll in anger management/dv.....i wanna stay as far away from confrontation as possible

IO know walking in there even in loose clothing they knew....some shit ya cant hide....i personally dont think im big but my wife disagrees ...

Maybe just maybe.....i need to really clean out completely......train lighter,eat lighter....cardio...maybe that's the real therapy i need.....

I have some sole searching to do...you know 20 + years with the gear...the gear is giving me more sides now that im older...48...i have to be smart...maybe its time to get off comepletly see what the test is when im clean...

I even layed off training but I needed something to occupy my time! but it all turned out well I hope it does for you!

The endo doctor I seen was a complete fool when it came to TRT. Androgel was his first option, I said no I want the injection because of price, and he prescribes 100mg of Test Cyp every 14 days!!! He also said I would never need anything like Arimidex or Nolvadex because te body would balance it self out after the testosterone was administered and I would never have estrogen related sides. I finally found a doctor more knowledgable in this area and I like his way of thinking. Best thing you can do too is find another endo. One last thing, I would deny any prior anabolics use. This information goes on your medical records and could cause problems with insurance and other things later. Good luck!

I think it was just a matter of terminology. Of course a neurologist knows sex hormones are steroid hormones. Testosterone is considered an androgen and then you have all the rest like Deca which are considered anabolics.

Correct they are obligated to help you.

Go see another endo I wnet through 3 before I got the right care.
Androgel and T Cyp to keep em in the high range.
I was 285 when I walked in clean and lo test levels.
doc flipped out, I said doc I am down 25 lbs and have been working out almost 2 decades the muscle ain't gonna just disappear.
