We all know the importance of recovory. How many months do you guys and gals go befrore having a break(complete time off) from the gym and how long of a break do you take.
I dont belive n extended time off from the gym , if you are training correctly and allowing for appropiate recovery you should not need more than a few days. that being said I do take about 10 days off after a show to let my mind rest, and also if I am in a stressfull situation, or am moving or something I will take a few days to get my head on straight.
I "deload" for 7-14 days every 6-7 weeks. This is not a time where I jsut don't go to the gym, but I jsut go in and use about 60% of the poundages I usually use and do not train to failure. I jsut get a little pump and get out of there. It works wonders for me.
Intrestind reading guys. I used to take a week off from the gym every couple of months to give my body extra rest. But now I can not even go a few days without working out. I have to get in there and do a bit even just train light. My training parnter hurt his forarm(ligaments we think he has not been to the docs thats just him) during a drunken arm wrestling match with a arm wrestling champ two Saturday nights ago. He trained all last week but his arm is f**ked. I told him we will both take a week off as its long overdue. But when I started this post yesterday I was on my way to the Gym. I just could not leave it even for one week. Now if I was injured like my buddy I would not have a problem taking time off. But as long as you are injury free I think keep training IMO.

I just took a week off after a 12 week straight training routine. I usually look better and feel better after break but this time I lost 5 lbs and feel maybe I should have kept training.
