The guy is a total fckn tool. He knows more than everyone and you literally can’t tell him ANYTHING. And he thinks he is a beast of a man and loves telling everyone how much better he is and how he has been in thousands of fights and never lost one. Lol. Recently he was bragging that he had the “best grip” on the board and no one could compare.. who the fck talks that way??? Who even THINKS that way?

I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone so narcissistic on the discussion boards… And that’s saying something, because we are all pretty much mentally disturbed and I’ve been on these boards since 1998-ish!

This past spring, he did a local show and won a very not good masters class, and declared himself the winner of the contest. The entire contest… Not the masters division…

The thing is, there are times when the guy actually looks pretty decent, and I think that he could make some real improvements and develop a relatively impressive physique if he would actually take some advice and constructive criticism, but he is utterly unable to see anything in the mirror beyond his own “greatness”.

I get what you are saying. But when you do everything everyday you pick different exercises, and you wind up hitting more angles as well. I used to think it was rocket science. I had to train each muscle group once a week and destroy every fiber with micro tears everywhere. I had to get x amount of protein and calories each day. Did that for decades didn't make a ton of progress broke down got old. Now I still take it kind of chill at home just do sets and reps at a slow pace because I have all day. But when I go to the commercial gym I do whatever is open until I want to throw up. Then I just eat as much as I can without feeling stuffed always prioritizing protein. I think the newer strategy may work better. I admit I have no evidence and I am a skinny old dude now. However if I look like Ronnie Coleman in 6 months this was my Eurika moment. All this has come together in my mind the last 12 weeks as I recovered from surgery by need if nothing else. But I think I may be on to something.
Could you write an example of what you exercises you do? I'm older (50), trained with high rep pushups, pullups, situps and long runs when I was 17, this was due to a desire to join the Marines. Which I did, and realized what I had been doing, while trimming a ton of fat off my, was overkill. In my 20's it was all about heavy weight. As I am getting older I feel like I get better results, as far as just looking leaner and feeling better, with full body workouts pretty much every day and lots and lots of reps. I am just curious to see how other people do it. Thank you.

I'll try to get back on track. My opinion on high frequency aka modern training theory where you are better hitting a muscle 2-3x a week and bro splits are garbage...

Hitting everything 2x a week is better than 1x a week volume equated. You stimulate growth twice and 5 sets 2x a week can be done with more rep quality/intensity than 10 sets 1x a week

The flaw with this theory however is you need to be more precise at 2x a week than 1x, and more precise at 3x than 2x

Why? Because if you do too many sets, you will not recover by the time you hit that muscle again that week. So the solution? To undershoot volume so you are garunteed to recover.

But since "recovered " is hard to define, or recovered enough to benefit from training that muscle again (to word it better) , it is hard for us to determine the right amount of sets to do. Many will undershoot, many will overshoot. Those who undershoot are missing out on growth. Those who are overshooting will eventually run into issues from " overtraining " aka under recovering.

You have a very small bullseye to hit. If you hit it, you will grow better than a bro split. But the chances you hit it...are not high.

Now if you were to say fuck that imma do a bro split...you can jack up volume and intensity for each part. Rather than do 5 sets for chest 2x a week, do 12 and add in intensifies. You are getting a greater weekly stimulus than at 2x a week. Since you are not hitting that muscle again for 7 days, unless your tom platz and able to generate extraordinary intensity, you will recover for your next session.

You don't need to be precise at all. Your garunteed growth. You won't grow as well as the 2x a week guy who hit that little bullseye...but youll grow better than all the 2x a week guys who didn't hit it. Idiot proof routine, garunteed progress. A bird in hand is better than 2 in a bush.

If you, unknowingly, don't train as intense as you think you do...or your form actually sucks when you think it's good...your still gonna get a stimulus because you did 12 sets with intrmsifiers...a growth signal will occur even if you used your traps to do lateral raises...you bombed enough a stimulus still.went to side delts. Where 5 sets 2x a week...if your form and intensity suck...maybe the stimulus isn't enough to grow.
