Thinking of moving to Vegas....any thoughts?

Whatsup brothers,its been awhile.I have kept in touch with a few of you through emails and PM,but whoever doesnt know my situation I will put it simply.I have hit rock bottom in my life,things really went south financially.The family is good,my fathers cancer is gone,my woman is standing behind me,those aspects are good.But I feel like Im in a huge rut living here in NYC for my whole life.I have made alot of money,and lost even more.And this time,it really hit me.I need a change.

I really love Florida,and have looked into the possibilities down there,but nothing has really grabbed me.On top of which,I have no close family living there,so I would be starting out totally blind.

Vegas on the other hand,my cousins,my aunt/uncle have all moved there.They bought up alot of property when it was cheaper and are living very well right now.So Im sure a place to live to get started would not be a problem,and Im sure they know alot of people to get me some work.I still have to speak to them about the details,but I wanted opinions from you guys.

Whats it like living there for an East Coast guy like me?
How is the job market?Construction,casino work,etc.
Give me an idea of what to expect if I make this decision.

I have a few things in the works here in NY,if they fall through then I really will consider leaving.My girl already says shes ready to go,so thats not an issue.Right now its 50/50,Im either staying or going,any thoughts?

Holy crap the Nazi is back. Long time no see brother. I would defenitaly move to vegas over florida. Its one of the fastest growing cities int he US. They are more opportunities out there than in florida, in my opinion.

Anyway bud I am sorry to hear of your troubles. Keep your chin up and shit will all work out in the end. Its good to see you back online brother.

Yea brother,I have been away from posting on the boards for awhile now.Maybe once or twice over the past months,but life takes over sometimes,and priorities come first.I know Vegas is flying high thats why Im considering it,hopefully I will hear some good feedback.

It is good to hear from you agian. I think Vegas is killer. Just my thoughts. I know the medical field is booming out there due to all the old folks moving out there hehehe... Yeah, a lot of money to be made out there.

Hey Bn whats up buddy!
I was out there a year or so ago and construction was Booming.
Ive even thought Of heading out that way myslef as I know in my trade Vegas is where the best money is here in the Usa and they Have a strong Union is my understanding... One thing though, Damn its HOT there...
I mean its bad here But Im guessing construction there is Brutaly hot in the summers.

There should be So many oppertunities there though..Maybe try and rough out construction and see how that goes You may even run into something better? whatever you decide Goodluck.

hit me up with what kinda work and I proly can get you a few names or companies, if it has anything do do with any of the strip properties or service industry I can be very helpfull,

What I have seen, second year here the heat really aint that bad, 1st summer sucks. Constructions guys are headed home by 2pm. Depending on what kinda of trade you have I can tell you construction is huge right now, over 40 towers between condos, time shares and new casionos planned for the next 10 years. Not to mention residential. Net 3000 people a month move here. Real estate has slowed a bit, the largest opprotunity to make big cash is over I feel , still a strong market and 13% at the lowest aint that bad. There are a few great deals on the far side of the damn to invest in and in 07 when the bridge over hoover damn is done all that area is supposted to explode. There is alot goin on here for sure.

Well, I know that is the city to visit...but to live there would not be very fun...

I have a few friends that live there and really cannot stand it, but the money is so good, they do not want to leave:
one is a teacher: he makes really good money...48,000 a year as a special ed teacher.

the other works construction: makes damn good money.

The other is a parking dude at the MGM and makes about 200 to 300 in tips a day. working 10 hours.

So for work, it is booooming, buit for the hot summers and dry desert, they all hate it.

I would not want to raise a family there, but I like to visit once a year.

I've been here for just over a month now and so far it's killer. You would have no problem finding work, especially in construction. Just don't move here in July. The day we got here to unload the truck it was 110 degrees outside and was just me and my wife to move stuff. There's no state income tax and the sales tax is 7.5%. I don't know how much help I'd be to you, but if you need specific info let me know and I'll see what I can on it.

Vegas is just like a normal city off the strip. The big difference I see is that alot of people move in and out. Lake mead is only 20 mins away, less than an hour is a small ski mountain, not too bad alot of stuff to do but guess it depends what your into.

We should hit a buffet lunch for all the Local ProM members.

Hey Lex

Im not a skilled craftsman.The only work I have ever done involving a trade was in the TCOM field.I did electrical work,data,I even worked in powerplants for the phone company where we did all the heavy cabling etc.This was a few years ago,and by no means am I saying Im a licensed electrician,but I have done that work before.Everything else I have done,and what I have always done has been real estate,sales,venture capital,stuff like that.Very lucrative stuff,but not dependable as an income source.I would have a month where I made 20k and then 3 months where I made nothing.I dont want to depend on that for a living.That is good on the side,until it really takes off,but Im more interested in knowing exactly how much is coming in and living accordingly.

This is part of the change I want to make.I do not want to live the fast life anymore.I don't want the fancy car,the spending of money non stop,not caring about tomorrow.Thats great and it was alot of fun,but where has it gotten me.NOWHERE.I will have all those things again,but slow and steady wins the race this time for me.

So while I will definetly look into real estate and other big money opportunities out there,my main concern is steady income.Hell,I would even get into the laborers union out there.I know the money is good,the work is steady,and the union is strong.Whatever it is,I can adapt,I can learn.

I would even consider security work in the casinos,or even one of the higher end strip clubs out there.I know the money is good,and the work is there.Just looking for stability. If you have any ideas throw them my way,Im open to anything at this point.

Yes I know its hot,but if you have ever been in Northeast snowstorms before,that shit gets tired real quick.I will take heat and sun over ice and snow any day.

Rajjin my brother,I figured alot of guys from Vegas on here,should help.You came through for me a few times during the shit storm,and no matter how bad things were for me,I always followed through as well.You know your my bro.

Nevada is a good state!

I like Las Vegas and Nevada for a couple reasons, first of all, no state tax, that is a huge boon to the economy and makes sense. With so many states enacting anti-capitalist policies, it is tough to find places that still have good restaurants and culture, where you aren't going to be raped by the tax man and frivolous law suits. My father owns a large, national environmental consulting business and recently moved his offices from San Diego area to Henderson. They recieved a huge tax break and in the long run will end up saving close to a million dollars a year in tax savings. So it was an easy decision for himself and his partners.
Now, if only we could do something about Arizona and the dyke carpetbagger we have as governor, then I would be satisfied.

My wife and I are headed to Vegas around the beginning of Oct. Working for an agency to do travel nursing. Housing is paid for, about $50,000 to start. Looking at living in the Summerlin area. If anyone has any suggestions as far as work for the wife let me know....I think stripping is out of the question though..LOL.

If you have a decent background, and can pass a drug test I can get you a interview for security at almost any club and depending on openings.Casinos-- I can get you names and maybe an intro that is much more dependant on openings. In big properties you sound like you are quailfied to be in the engenerring departments. I can for sure walk you into that. There is alot just let me know what to concentrate on , OH limo driver is a sweet gig too, just need to pass a class C at dmv and the company will let you drive thier limo to take the final. Have a connections there too. I'm on call to dress up like a roman guard.. that pays 15 an hour. You can deffiately stay busy here. Buddy of mine's son is a bell man, almost every day he gets at least 1- 100 dollar tip. Dont mind tryin to help a bro out. Cant promise anyting but I work in 90% of the casinos here and have great connections at some clubs.

I spoke to my cousin and she is trying to get me out there in Sept.If I make the trip,I wouldnt mind meeting up with you Lex for lunch or whatever.In fact maybe a couple of us could get together.We could talk business and see what the options are.This just might happen.

Hey man, do you have any suggestions for work for my wife?? She is a hair stylist now, but doesnt want to have to do that much longer... its hard on her lower back. But if she could make enough cash at it I'm sure she would do it for awhile. I know some of the casinos have spa's and salon's but not sure how they pay. Any other ideas??

Friend of mine is starting work at spa in Venitian, she is really good and was in the right place right time. When she starts she is going to be an assitant for at least 6 months, this pays hardly anything, after that when she is a full colorist or whatever it is the money is sick. so that is a tough one. same girl worked at a salon off the strip and maybe had one appt a day. it was kinda rough. She makes big $$ now cocktailing at the best club but already burned out sick of the life. SO to work at a high end one I may be able to help once she gets in but that is down the road. Know a syleist at bellagio spa but she couldnt help us there,the road is kinda hard to get in there and seems they make you suffer for a while. no luck there , if she wants to try somthing else let me know if I can help ya .
