What did it look like? I've been a having pain in one leg and so I thought I would see if I could get anything out. Just some blood and white pus. I'm guessing its not a bad infection from the look of it. No redness and just a little swelling just kinda painfull. Like when I use to use sust.

I have drained about 4 over the years, they have been sterile abscesses....kinda rudiment but if it smells bad its infected, if not then it is likely a sterile abcess but when you drain it you can get it infected if you are not being carefull so that is just my exp. becarefull and if you even think anything is going on ...you know get some help.

yea

I'm just goin to take some amoxcicillin 500mg for about 10 days and if it gets worse between then and now I'll go to the doc. Could be any number of things I know theres some scar tissue in there I can only get blood/little pus to come out in a spot thats less than a inch. I went a little above it and nothing came out.

and after you drain what you can you are still gonna have swelling and tenderness in that area for a few days, I mean ussually there is a ruduction of pain cause you got rid of some fluid but then it kinda re-swells then starts to heal.

and smart to run the anti biotics if you try to drain at home just in case you infect it.

caveman doc out....good luck... sounds like it just needs to heal up now.

How do you guys drain it? If you used a 1.5" needle for the injection, you use a 1.5" needle to drain it?

as long as it will reach it.... but i use a larger gauge like 18

I've drained...

I've drained haematoma and abcess. Fairly simple. Wipe with alcohol, grab a big barrel and a big pin, maybe 18g, and you will know it when you hit the fluid. IF there is puss, get antibiotics. If there is simply blood, or clotting blood, you should be fine. IronMike

I took 50ml out of my tricep over 3 days due to a sterial abscess.

Yeah,

I drained 37ml of blood and puss (50/50) out of a delt abcess... took about 15 pokes with a freakin 16g syringe i bought at the place that sells my fina pellets. Luckly i had a 50ml bottle of lydocaine i used to numb that bitch each time.
Took a shit load of amoxcicillin 1000mg twice a day.

Good luck

just curious how did you drain from your tricep bapper? i need two hands to drain anything

Big Bapper taught me how to drain and it worked when I needed it big time. Keep amox. in stock and handy at all times.

In my old days and activities we all got abcessess from time to time. Many of you remember mine almost causing me my arm.
Anyway...this old bro of mine got one in his foot at the ankle. He asked me for a razor blade and proceeded to cut a three quarter inch cut and another the same length in the form of a cross and open in up. He actually bled white just as much as red. It took weeks to heel and once he was with these guys that made him walk a long distance just to see if he could stand the pain. He called me and I went and picked him up on the road and in the car he took off his shoe and poured the blood out it and threw his completely red sock out the window. Those were the days.

I had one that was probably bigger than a golf ball in one of my biceps. I will never shoot biceps again. They thought it was a hematoma from straining the muscle. I didn't want anything on record for being gear related, so I didn't tell them the real cause. They lanced it about an inch wide and lots of blood and puss came flowing out. They then pack it with some gauze and repeated the procedure a few times before it finally went down. It took weeks for me to work all the puss and blood out. It would come shooting out like a giant zit, it wasn't pretty. They gave me an iv with antibiotics and a prescription for more when I left.

They cut away entire pieces of my arm that were dead tissue. They left that hole in my arm for over a month and connected me to a VAC machine which continuously sucked the infection out of me. I learned what true pain is. I still have my arm though! A few more hours and they would have taken it. The actual abcess was located at the top of the hole and everything below that was dead tissue. Narcrosis or something like that.

????

 How do you get an abbcess in your ankle or in your forearm like that from gear? site injection gone wrong? just curious?

Holy shit! I would say that you might have lost your life too. I bet you had a really high fever and that the infection had moved into your blood stream? ONce its in your blood it can damage internal organs such as your heart. i had a small abcess in my ass that they had to cut out and I had a terrible fever with that. They tried IV antibiotics and everything you could think of and in the end the only thing that worked was surgery. Doc warned me that if I had waited much longer it could have been ugly. I really hate to see people self treating medical problems. I had tried antibiotics on my own for 10 days and it did nothing, tried draining it etc. In my mind something like this can be serious and its always best to seek medical attention. Just my 2 cents.

If you can inject the tricep yourself, you can drain it yourself. I had no fever or it was not hot to touch, first stop was ER. They said it would be OK and would not let me see a doctor, it was a skiny male nurse that seen me and you would of nearly thought he wanted it to get worse. So fuck him I went home and with the help of a EX GF we got all the straw out.

If you hit a vain for instance...an abcess can form far from its original entry point (so aspirate every time!). In my case and the case of my "old pal" they were site injects.

Maldorf that is exactly why I keep this pic handy because of the dangers of self medication. The gear has nothing to do with it. SELF MEDICATION without seeking a doctors care is the worst. I am lucky to by now have several doctors whom I can go to and be completely open and honest with about anything and that is the way it should be. Not telling your doc what the cause of your problems are is the worst possible thing to do and that is why I keep the pic around.
Yes the fever prevented me from sleeping one night and that along with the great pain from the circulation being cut off and my forearm swelling to the size of a football is the reason I went into the ER.

Yeah, i didnt go at first to the doc because I was scared of what they would say if I told them why I had it, but in the end you have to tell them the truth. So after sitting around for 1 week and suffering I finally went in like you did and got help. Im glad you didnt lose your arm or your life. Most people dont realize that an abcess can be deadly if it goes untreated long enough. Very serious stuff. SOme bacterias have a very short turn over from one generation to the next and spread really fast. In those cases, waiting just a day or so can mean the differnece between losing a limb or not.
