Top 10 Amateur Shows?

What 10 shows do you guys feel are the top amateur shows?

I would have to include the NPC Pittsburg and Southern States. What about Bev Francis Metropolitan or Eastern USA's?

I have no clue about the west coast or midwest? Maybe Emerald Cup?

Well id go like this.....

1. Cali Championships
2. Atlantic States
3. LA championships
4. Southern States
5. Emerald Cup
mix in here the excalibur, the eastern (NOT the metro), bodyrock used to be huge (maybe ahead of the emerald and southern states) but they no longer have it. I dont think there is any more shows that meet the calibur of these, but Vander swears an AZ show would, thoughts?

I would have to say the NPC Southern Classic. The last two years there have been 150 plus competitors from 13 different states. My weight class the light heavies had 15 competitors last year.

I have always heard the Southern States is a major amateur show as well.

total competitors does not account for QUALITY and DIFFICULTY. Atlantic States had 32 HWTs and 23 LHW last year when i competed. Difference is.... top 4 HWTs coulda been top 15 in nationals. The year before that Evan Centropani took the overall and there was a few guys not too far off (Evan of 2yrs ago, not even of NOW). Three years ago Bodyrock had 6 guys top 10 in Nationals. LA has a ton of procard winners. Same with the Cali. southern States has alot of national competitors (Jason Huh look for this guy). Iv competed twice in some of the best shows in the country... you know its great when your leadin up to ur show like damn i look good, every bodybuilder u know is like damn ur gonna do well.. then u get back stage n ur like OHHH SHIT haha... still got 4th both times tho in 20+man classes that were VERY tough.

last year the show was weak! (colorado) this year they are expecting a better turnout, i would bet it will be up ther in the top 10 in a few years....

Guys dont forget international shows, IFBB World amateur championships is a pro card qualifier, MANY top pros have qualified this way (Ronnie included). And the last two pros to qualify were Dennis Wolf and Paco Bautista. And the fact that this show is TESTED makes it that much harder.

I should have clarified myself a little better, sorry. Amateur shows in the US not including jr usa, jr nationals, usa, nationals, and north americans.

the Northern Kentucky show is always good! Lots of quality national level competitors come out of that show, not to mention that it's as big if not bigger than Junior Nationals in all the divisions (fitness excluded). imo

Excalibur is in the top 3 definetly...La's also...Both very tough shows...winners of those weight classes usually place very well at a National contest...

The Pittsurg. It's a Manion show so there is always a great turn out. Usually a bunch of guest Posers, last year, Jay, Ronnie, Gustavo.

I would agree with you here. It was my first show ever - just this year. There were upwards of 250 of us competing. It is the largest amateur show in the nation (supposedly ).
