Vera vs coutre fight

Brandon Vera got robbed!!! I like randy and ya he's a legion but he lost that fight, other then pinning vera up against the cage for 3 rounds he never once hurt vera. vera hurt randy with some vicious kicks to the body and had randy hurt, he even was able to take randy down.

I've always liked Randy and yes the fight was very boring, but he did control the fight most of the time, which is part of the game...They called the fight right, but it also shows it's time for him to retire.....

Randy did a form of Lay and Pray that everybody finds boring. But 2 body kicks aren't gonna win Vera the fight when Randy controlled it for 90% of the time even if he didn't look impressive doing it.

yeh, im with you alin...not really sure what to think either. was disappointed either way with randy because he couldn't get vera down

i could see it go either way without too much controversy, randy controlled most of the fight, escaped quick when taken down, vera one damaging knee to solar plex not win it for him

I like Randy...but he is getting to the point he isn't competitive with the best of the best...he had an AMAZING career...time to turn it in

i think the fight was called right, althought if they chose vera i wouldnt be dissapointed. Randy did control the fight most of the time, and did have a few combo that connected. vera had a takedown and a couple body kicks. I dont think its time for randy to hang it up at all...he is still competing with the best of the best, and he is making lots of money doing it

I think Randy is doing fine as well. I think this fight is a very good example of 2 fighters that are really evenly matched and skilled in the same facets. It was boring to watch, but still a great match.

i cant figure out randy's motivation to continue fighting...the guy is already a hall of famer, has more money than most of us can ever dream of, and still has his health. what more can you ask for? i would have retired years ago if i was him

Being a former wreslter,judoka,and bjj practitioner...it is the love of competition that keeps him and most people doing what they do. I went through a serious depression when i stopped,and it took a very long time for me to get over it. It is in the blood, and takes a long time to get out when you stop competing.

He's had a couple of divorces. First one def took half, i'd hope he had a prenup for the last.

Couture lost that fight, everyone knows it. Rogan is Couture's biggest fan and he even inferred it to his face in his post fight interview with him. That right there says it all.

Vera knocked him down, and was the only one with a take down plus a mount for 5 seconds.

It doesn't matter if couture controlled 99% of the fight, he never attempted to finished it. Vera did.

i mean the fight could go both ways.. i dont honestly know what the judges are suppost to judge the fight on but vera did much more damage but yet again randy did have control over the whole fight.. he knew he was in trouble and coudlnt afford to take hits so thats how he handled it

I never for one second thought Vera won or came close. Randy controlled him the whole fight. Randy's clich is the best in the game. Vera did land a coupe of shots, but Randy had 2-3 flurries that equalled Vera.

I was impressed by Randy again.

Randy landed a few punches and Vera knocked him down with strikes. So your logic = Flurries > Knock down

Logic:

To me when you are pinned against the cage for 14 minutes of a 15 minute fight and you are not allowed to mount any offense when you are a true striker, I'd say you lost. Pinned against the cage or on the ground tied up it is the same to me. If Vera was stronger and better he would have shrugged Randy off in the clintch and kick boxed him into the ground, but he wasn't better.

Randy knew he would lose a stand up battle so he did what he needed to to win, isn't that the nature of the sport?

Part of the scoring is octagon control and Randy controlled it hands down. If Vera had a chance at controlling Randy he would have won. BUT he was not the better fighter that night and was dominated the majority of the fight minus maybe a minute where he shined at kicks and a takedown.

I really do think they put too much importance on control Randy had him up against the cage but did nothing at all with it while Verra landed some devastating shots.

Its just like when you will have one fighter take another down repeatedly and just lay on him and do no damage while the fighter on the bottom is transitioning from on sub attempt to another(trying to finish the fight) and the guy on top wins because they see that as the dominant position. Its only dominant if you can do something with it IMO
