VIP forum???

with all this talk about the quality of threads and what not, how would everybody feel about an invite only VIP forum? im not even saying i would be invited, but it would seem like it would be a more quality place for the vets around here.

Then you run the risk of just having a bunch of beginners (like myself) in a forum together giving each other bad advice because we wouldn't have vets to give us good advice. I think that would take away from this board being as awesome as it is...

OK thats interesting. But I would believe it wise to make it so that the only ones who even know the VIP forum exists is its invited members. You must be invited to even realize it exists. Only its members, mods, admin, can see it. Mods can speak among one another silent to us as it is, maby this VIP thing could be done.

I think in time a member would realize the general forum is still where ALL members end up getting on and you would still contribute an equal amount.

It's very arrogant to think that some people's opinions, views, etc. are more important than others. We all started from scratch at one point. The only stupid questions are questions that don't get answered in turn supporting ignorance.

maybe something like a roundtable forum where the pro's or VIP's can have discussions that can be read by the general populace, but unless invited to this roundtable by the mods you cant post. the mods would select only the most qualified via experience and knowledge to participate.

I agree with you.

I dont think the suggestion was that "ok, since we qualify for whatever reason we get to have this forum away from you lesser members" as much as simply an additional forum to all the others.
A lot of the forums already have its own core members. Counseling forum in usualy the same members, members photos, judges, they all have vets and regulars and new members who like it unto themselves. Another forum would be no different right? Idk.

Then it seems arrogant because you can read it but not contribute. As a for sure outsider of any such forum I would much prefer to NOT even know it exists.

i think getting to read a discussion between 2 people like dante and Phil would be an awesome opportunity. maybe limit it to trainers and Pro's. but i can see the point your making . baybe just call it an advanced discussion forum.

I get the impression that rather than tell eachother the deepest darkest secrets of bodybuilding....the vip forum would contain the vets fuckin with eachother and going all of topic as hell. To think such a forum would contain anything less is hard to believe.......Shelby

You also have the fact this is business and to segregate your pros and judges is not as good for business. I remember the first time I saw this board and was about to pass right on by but it had a pro and that made me stay longer and eventually a consumer. Good for business.

Missing the point

While I respect the desire to see a more "serious" area/forum for posting, this relates to what I said in a related thread about making change. A VIP forum isn't need, but rather MORE POSTS BY "VIP" MEMBERS.

Make this board how you want it. Post intriguing questions. Post sound statements/logic/research about BB, nutrition and the like. You want change? MAKE THE CHANGE.

it just seems like a lot of newer guys are just posting about sources and ETA's and alot of BS that can most likely be found through the search function....how many times can you talk about a test/deca cycle????

I agree with you to mysosin.
You know it occurred to me today that I stopped logging into PM for information years ago. Even before I joined. In return I contribute less and less real info. Perhaps such a forum would give an opportunity for me to properly fuck with other members without pissing off masses of people with nonsense posts.

i hate all these different forums. i miss the days when there was one forum. i can see picture and diet forums but thats it. how many forums you guys visit here? i only usually go to this one.
there has always been newbie questions and this debate. i say live with it.

Well, besides re-directing the more newbie questions to the appropriate forum by the Mods, one way to purge what you don't want is to ignore the undesired. There is a time for direct confrontation and there is a time for shunning. By focusing on the posts that will build up the board and ignoring those that won't (i.e. the infamous milk thread) those elements will slowly dissipate (and it helps to keep the board from becoming a "bash board").

Its about money Snooze. If walmart only offered bread than it looses to its competition. Same here. Variety in forums is needed. What about the female forum? That go to? These other forums may not be my favorite but my wife is a member here and in turn is a customer and so on so forth.
