Very good post bro. I have a friend right now that is getting help. 3 of us stepped in on monday to help him and we were just in time. We are in constant contact with him and he is going to classes.

as i read this my wife is telling me about someone she knows who was just admitted to hospital for depression...weird coincidence

About 10 years back I was just about running on empty and a GOOD friend of mine took me in to see a Doc to get the help I needed. My best friend in the world now. Sometimes it even hard for the person to see how bad things are.

I often feel this way during this time of the year ... I guess it's pretty much the holiday blues only I feel it on and off all year and a Psychiatrist I see at a VA 10 years now has me using librium and trazodone for sleep . Sometimes I wonder if alcohol can make this worse when i binge drink on my days off only to feel like crap the next day . I work a physical job that I'm really sick of , especially the people who can be pricks ... one of my co- workers feels I should see a different doctor because he knows I have no close friends and being able to bond closely with women doesn't exist with me . A lot of times it seems like the really hot chicks come across as very materialistic and stuck up and expect guys to make the first move which turns me off . I realize suicide is permanent and have been to 2 funerals of co- workers who committed suicide and the impact it leaves is devastating for family and friends .

I know of 6 people this past month to take their own lives...it's a horrible thing. Hard for others to understand what demons people sometimes face.

Another thing to be wary of is break ins...my brothers house was broken into last saturday...the theives rigged a rope and let the dogs out of the back yard...once the dogs were out they went through the back door and took all the xmas gifts, laptops, guns, tv's etc....tis the season...

I thought I suffered from depression for years. Drs had me on all sorts of anti-depressants. I also drank in excess and used many other substances. It would relieve the feelings while I was intoxicated but always made it worse when I sobered up. I unfotunatly choose to go down the path of just not being sober ever for pretty much 4yrs! That lead to a even darker place, emotionaly, spiritualy, financialy bankrupt and sucidial. Been sober now for the better part of 2 yrs and feel amazing no anti-depressant. Just taking it one day at a time, this is not the first time she has tried to commit suicide but I didn't know about the numerous times before until her family was telling me about it. Everyone says theres was nothing I could have done and that if it didn't happen this time it would have happened down the road at some point but you always think that there could have been something you could have done to stop it.

This is definitely true.. I know my situation isn't as serious as others.. but I just moved to a place where I know absolutely nobody besides my small office staff. I moved out here with my gf but she stayed home between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I've had the most serious depression of my life these past few weeks - but friends helped get me through it!
