As I posted a month ago I tore my pec, benching 500 for reps, Tore it, but it could have been alot worse. Took 1.5 months from the gym lost 7lbs, looked better. HAd more ass after me than you can imagine. Anyway I was 225lbs, no water and lean on monday. Started to lift again, and BOOM! back to 230 by Thurs. Fucking amazing, My body needed a break to I think, I still cant bench any real weight yet, but can do everything else. I do machines, and get a nice pump, but I have to tell you, at 37 yrs old, and getting hurt 500+ bench presses are over for me, Its all about :D reps, I hope to get back like I was before i got hurt as far as reps. I could do 275 for 20 on incline and 315 for around 15-16, and 405 for 12 on a good day. BUT I"m BACK, and I tell you what, now matter how good I looked not working out, I love going to the gym.

JB - I hear you bro on the injuries. That is the one thing that I promised myself I would really try and avoid. BTW, I'm 36 and over the last 3 years, I've:

* ruptured my right achilles and had it repaired,
* had carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand (GH accelearated),
* partially torn my rhomboid on the right side,
* and had many severe strains (left quad, lower back, etc).

All of these set me back in the gym, and all of them were BB related in some way. So no more ultra heavy weights or trying to impress the girls, kids, or myself,... I'm too old for that shit.

So you're not alone in the higher reps, lower weight camp. Good luck with the come back, but it sounds like you're well on your way.

It becomes about planning with longevity in mind when you get 40 and over, or have been injured alot. John was lucky to have never been injured until 37YO, lifting with strict form helps. But even with that-sometimes your number has to come up. Take it one workout at a time, bro. See you at the gym. ;)
